235/225 section tyres???
 

My Classic has got aftermarket 7J x 17" alloys currently on 215/40/17 tyres...

Is a 7J-wide rim capable of accepting 235 tyres? - or 225s if not? If so, what's the lowest sidewall profile can I get away with, etc?

...For the record the offset of my alloys are ET47.

My Octavia vRS has 225/45/17 tyres on 7J x 17 wheels. No problems.

IIRC 235 won't get good clearance on a classic.

I just found out from Zen that 215s (which is what I've got) are pretty much all you can get away with on the Classic's std arces.
