Can anyone tell me about this ECU: 8S (22611 AD190)

My UK turbo has always been very quick for a UK car, it feels much quicker than any other UK classic I drove before buying it, even the previous owner says it was one of the reasons he bought it.. Anyhoo after doing a bloody good 0-60 time at trax even with a fudged gear change I thought I'd have a look at the ECU to see if its been tampered with atall..

The ECU is marked 8S 22611 AD190.. There is a very old thread on here from someone selling a WR spec ecu with the same designation:

and also this post here talking about a power engineering re-mapped ECU with the same number:

Thanks! :)

Is this ECU re-mappable? If so is there anyway of telling if it has been mapped?

The ECU you have there is a standard UK 97/98.

The ECU is not reflashable. Most people do not offer upgrades for this ecu, except a couple of places, that offer NZ/AUS based upgrade boards. If the upgrade board were fitted, the little row of solder dots at the far end would have something sticking out of them... it doesn't, so I think safe to assume your ECU is stock.

There are other ways to make the faster without remapping, eg. using a bleed valve to up the boost.

Cheers for that.. Do you know anything about the upgrade offered by Performance Engineering, I'm told thats a re-flash or is it just a myth?

Cheers.

Also I forgot to ask but there was an extra connector next to the ECU, does anyone know what this is for? Cheers.
