Watch my back.... I'm off to Iraq!

Well it had to happen sometime! :freak3:

As some of you know I'm in the TA (The Army, Not Time Attack)

Had it confirmed today that in December I'm being mobilised to serve a tour somewhere sunny.

The main reason I'm posting this is for a cople of reasons.... firstly just to explain why I won't be posting for a while (even though I'm planning to take a laptop with me) but mainly I'm after some help with Mrs BB.....

It's obviously never easy when this happens, but what doesn't help is the fact that Kelly's parents are away for 6 months also.... :(

I'm hoping she'll start posting more often and I'd really like her to continue taking little BB to the meets etc.... (even though I know she won't drive my car as she's scared she'll dent it?)

I know you are all a friendly bunch :thumb: but could you please say hello if you see her at a meet as it is a little daughting if your visiting for the first time on your own.....

Anyway, I'm not off of a while, so I'll see you soon.

Cheers

Bibo aka Cpl Ian Brazier 70 (EY) Signal Squadron

P.S. As soon as I'm in Theatre, I'll let you know my address as it would be nice to get some letters from time to time :)

We will look after them mate

You just look after yourself ;)

WRX_Dazza 04 September 2007 12:14 PM

Good luck in your task at hand, and come back in one piece.

Don't worry about the family, tell Kelly that if she needs anything just ask the ESC and we will ALL be happy to help!

As you know I'm just around the corner, if Mrs B needs anything she only needs to ask. I'm sure Charlotte would love to play with the kids.

Cheers again guys (and gals!) :)

Not needed until Dec. but does anyone have a car cover I could borrow for at least 6 months? I'm going to try and get my car in the TA workshop, but really want to protect it as much as poss.....

Also, my Mum's brought me a new E-machines laptop from PC world, but it's only got a small HD and 500mb ram. Anyone have any good reasonable suppliers?

Cheers...

 Take care Ian.

Must admit it made me feel a bit strange reading about this, in the recent gulf conflicts I have not known anyone directly invloved, and as such it has never seemed fully 'real', i.e. it's just on the telly, like a lot of war films?

Now that someone I know is going it suddenly made it very real and scarey.

Ian do you guys still use BV's (cooking / boiling vessels), from memory the part number is FV706656? During the 1st gulf war, I worked for a local company that made these, we shipped out thousands of them then.

Best of luck mate, Know how kelly feels as my brother was out there in 2004 with the TA. Albeit he only spent 2 months out there due to a knee injury (playing football tho)

I've got a light weight cover, brand new and breathable, bought it for shows like JAE where I was going to enter the show and shines and keep it undercover over night.

Yours for £20 if you want it - Cost me a lot more than that

As for upgrading the laptop, have a chat with John1uk

:) Yep, it does get real and change the way you look at things.... Something you'd let bother you before, doesn't seem a big deal now!!!!

Not sure about the BV? Not my area :wonder: Got any left though?

I think they went in tanks and armoured vehicle i.eFV706656 - FV = Fighting Vehicle, just did a quick search and found this, amazed I still remembered the part No., it's been about 9-10 years since I left that company.

Ian - try either autdirect (shoebury) or argoncomputing (southend near the karcher jet wash) for the PC parts, thats where I go when building PC's.
