Thats a lesson for a lot of people on here on what a Subaru Impreza is about!
And from only 300 BHP!

Ye only 300bhp but 600,000 euro for each car plus millions in research every year. still looks and sounds the nuts though.

Sure does sound and looks the nuts...wouldn't mine having that! :norty: Wonder how much the insurance would be on that....:wonder:

I know the guy who prepared tommi makinen's wrc cars and reckons the 300bhp is a total myth. 1200+kgs and 300bhp does not = 0 - 100mph in sub 8 seconds.

JP4 04 September 2007 10:45 PM

What could the break be on that then? My understanding was that it was the greater amount of torque which made it so quick? :wonder:

L33_WRX 04 September 2007 10:50 PM

that looks crazy - I want anti lag and launch control! How much would that set me back?

I dunno but he laughed at me when I said 300bhp.

exvaux 04 September 2007 11:17 PM

shows the handling difference as well

I know they have to be road legal to comply with the rules (number plate etc) but just out of genral interest would a wrc pass an MOT or do they not count?:wonder: i dread to think what it would cost jo public to insure but i think i would be right in saying it would have alot of zeros on the end.:lol1:
If i hit the lotto at the weekend i know what i'll be doing with a big wedge of the cash:norty:

There must be plently of WRC spec imprezas available for someone to shove on a dyno to get a rough idea what they run then

Torben 05 September 2007 08:30 AM

The limit is 300 bhp. but they have about 600 Nm.

Engine spec.

I think Powerstation ran one of them a while back, made almost 300bhp on the nose :)

Torben 05 September 2007 09:02 AM

If they have more than 300 bhp. they will be disqualified. It's not for fun they write it on there homepage. Subaru World Rally Team

L33_WRX 05 September 2007 09:29 AM

I'm confused - 300bhp and that quick!? I understand the power to weight ratio but how much lighter is this car than the standard road car?

Reading the spec the cats are still in place too - do subaru sell an anti lag system?

L33_WRX 05 September 2007 09:45 AM

I'm interested in getting anti-lag and launch control - how much are Gems ECU's?

Power Junkie 05 September 2007 10:09 AM

they have lots of Torque around 600Nm thats much more important than the bhp, dont they run something like 5bar boost?

supernick 05 September 2007 10:25 AM

I noticed that the WRC car doesnt lift up at the front under accelaration...is this available to buy...if so how much??

Power Junkie 05 September 2007 10:33 AM

you can get the whiteline anti lift kit, it works well but not like the wrc one,

...with all the buttons to go with it.... :norty: ...I wouldn't mine one in my WR1!

As power junkie says I'm sure I read somewhere it's the torque that makes em go so quick.....the film clip comes across as though the standard STI was standing still....

stevebennett 05 September 2007 01:13 PM

If you want Anti Lag the GRD project Car has Anti Lag installed on the standard Newage ECU. But the MPg is a bit poor!

Poor than what my standard WR1 would give?...MPg can range from 16-23mpg depends on how heavy the foot is!

cbgb 05 September 2007 03:06 PM

600Nm at 4000 revs equates to 340 Bhp . read into that what you will ?

Dr Who 05 September 2007 07:18 PM

It begs the question why are so many people on here BHP obsessed?
Its my understanding that when Prodrive have developed Performance upgrades they concentrate on as they quote " Usable Mid Range Torque" than "Unusable Top End Power".?

Terminator X 05 September 2007 07:28 PM

^^ Would they be better to run a BMW like twin turbo diesel then :wonder:

Apologies if I've shown a ridiculously (sp?) poor knowledge of how the WRC is run.

TX.

Has it got an additional circuit board added or something? How much??
