Removing a Smart Virus

After running a program off the internet Norton startes telling me it was blocking a virus over and over and then stopped. The message flashed quite quickly so I couldn't read it properly but looked like reporter something.

Since this Norton sometimes doesn't auto protect and gives an error message shutting down from time to time.

Virus scan doesn't pick anything up but It seems like I have a virus that is sending data back to someone.

Does anyone else have experience of this? Or am I being paranoid?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I never got on with Norton!

You could try installing AVG, its free and seems quite effective.

Try spynomore.com as you can check to see if it finds anything before you download. It worked on a real bastid virus I had a year or two back and they guarantee, I think, that they'll eradicate anything if you send through what the problem is (there is a interface thingy whereby they send back a patch a day or so later).

I alos hate Norton. I recommend Nod32 now as it also uses a lot less CPU time...

Can you not just run a scan and at the end it (should) show you anything that its detected :) (dont like norton either, hence mcafee security suite for me :D)

Tony:)
