Is it possible to use STi fog lamp covers, or the similar plain ones, over Cibie driving lamps

With a little bit of adjustment to the bracket supplied ie cut and bend Mine do, its quite tight though I tried both preferred the Sti ones Solid one (unused) are for sale in "for sale" Thread Phil |

Really wanted the ones as fitted to a certain MY01 not a million miles from where you are sat.:D Does it reduce the spread of the beam at all. God, I'll have to stop looking at that car of yours, every time I have a peek I think Huumm - that would look good on the Mad machine. ;) While I've got your attention - the work on your spoiler, did they apply the stuff to the boot or the spoiler and did they remove the spoiler completely (presume it can't be done with it in situ) Any idea what the stuff they used was called - would ordinary mastic take the paint off. God all the questions but it's your own fault for being the font of all MY01 knowledge.:D:D:D |

It needed me and 3 from scoobysport 2 lads to hold the spoiler, stuart to apply the mastic and me to hold the boot Stuart applied the mastic to the boot then sat the spoiler on it The Mastic looked like bathroom clear mastic but ring Pete he will tell you as for the Sti covers no loss of performance that I can see Hope that helps Phil |
Warning - do NOT use silicon sealant to seat the spoiler to the bootlid - I did this on our MY00's and it was almost impossible to remove - it welded the wings solid to the bootlid.
Seal around the bolts from *underneath* the bootlid with silicon sealant, run the wiring through a rubber grommet, and seal round this also with silicon sealant, but from *above* (you can't get to it from below), before bolting the spoiler down. |

1. lads at scoobysport tried the from below method first it still leaked 2. The very small amount of "gunk" used round the top of each hole should not stick the spoiler just seal it 3. Anyway no plans for it to come off anyway BTW where in Austria are you of to? Phil |

Argh, thats good news Dave, having had to drill about a 1000 holes in my boot i decided that my spoiler had to stay on :D so i put louds of the stuff on it. interesting point being rally cars rarely go over 120mph so mine needed to be stuck down well ;)
Today i had a little run and got up to 140mph (on a airfield trackday of course ;) ) and the lip of my spoiler was almost flat and the top fin went from bowing up slightly to bowing down :eek: I will try and get some photos of this when i've got a co-pilot :D Scott [Edited by RB5SCOTT - 1/6/2002 9:53:18 PM] |

Sorry, should have put this in my earlier post! I agree, a bit round the bolt holes from above is fine, it's when there is a 1/2 inch line of silicon sealant round the whole of the base of the spoiler there is a potential problem with removal :eek: (but of course the MY01 ScoobySport wing is better in this respect being on two "feet" than my old MY00 where the MRT spoiler was stuck to the whole width of the bootlid).
