Has anyone compared goodyear F1 anf toyos.
I will be needing a new set on 16in wheels. Currently runing on F1's, and have no experance of other tyres.

Search is still off. anyone with comments??

I've just changed from PZero's to F1's. Couldn't believe the difference, especially in the wet. The PZero's were downright dangerous especially as the tread got below 3 mm. I previously tried the Toyos (T1-S I presume you mean) and thought they were reasonably good but still a long way short of the F1's.

I would suggest staying with the F1's especially since the other highly rated tyre, SO3 seems to be around £30-50 more per tyre.

Just had a set of F1's fitted at ProTyre Gloucester 310 all in,
and cannot believe the difference over the Bridgestone RE's that were fitted from new on my MY00.
The car now handles, steers, stops and is quiet and mot of all does not tramline anymore YIPPEE. Its only been wet/damp since fitting but done 500 odd miles and am converted.
Also has T1 Proxies on previous car, Ok but not a patch on these.
ProTyre have also got SO3PP's in stock at 420 all in but I could not justify the extra cost (and I'm glad I did'nt)

Sorry to contradict a little, but I went from Toyos to F1's and reckon there's not so much in it. In the dry the F1s are much better, but with a more "edgy" feel - i.e. not as progressive. In the wet, I think the Toyo's are better with a very nice progressive feel to them. In the snow I think the F1's are a better that Toyos!

There are all on stock 16inch wheels, I'm sure there will be a big difference on 17inch. For mixed driving and lower price I would go for Toyos. Although I reckon the F1s will last longer.

Weird, I came from F1's to Proxes, and I'm never going back.
The Proxes withstand heat alot better (superb trackday tire - especially the superb feel of the grip limit), they grip extremely well on dry tarmac...
The only thing the F1's seemed to be better on is wet grip...

I should add the F1's were 215/40x17, and my Proxes are in 215/35x18.

ive had F1 & toyos in 215/40/17, theres not a lot of difference but i prefer the toyos

I'll second SecretAgentMan except I have ran both on 16" (now on 17" with Toyo's). The F1 does go 'off' after some hard driving and starts to squirm. Won't get F1's again if there are Toyo's available.

Then again I'm going to try S03's next just to see what the difference is.

Not strickly answering the question asked, but I've driven an Evo6 with F1's and Bridgestone S03s. Both excellent tyres, but I found you could push the S03s harder, and were more progressive. I found that you could feel the tyres walls roll more on the F1's.

Based on this I'm looking at S03s next.

Just had Toyos fitted after my first set of RE010 have given up the ghost. I'm extremely happy with them and they've eliminated the 'tram-lining' that was doing my head in.

I'm running 16" wheels on MY00 and can recommend them, though most people seem to be running F1's.

I think with either one you won't be disappointed!

Collecting my WRX on Sat wit the Toyo 225/40ZR18's and will let u know. Can't afford a separate set for comparison sorry, besides would'nt waste my money on a company producing a tyre called "F1" when they've pulled out of F1. JD.

Thats a strange comment, judging a tyre on the basis of its name??? I can tell you havent tried an F1 with a statement like that!! :D

Went from S03's to F1's..

S03's were like driving on rails, went wherever you pointed it and always felt assured, solid and grippy.

F1's are fiddly and jittery and now the car doesn't feel so solid and self assured.. Saying that they're very good in the wet and you can tell when they're about to let go..

Next set - SO3s for the summer, F1's for the winter..

Just moved from the RE010's to Toyo's for the first time and I'm never going back. I've got standard 16" wheels and the grip in the wet is excellent. (Also the loss of tramlining is bliss)

I think you should consider what sort of driving you'll be doing i.e higher motorway mileage/loads of driving in the wet/track days.

Though from all the threads I read before going from Bridgestones to Toyo's there isn't much in it.

Are they the F1-GS-D2 model?

Got a set of 4 x 215/40/17 fitted and the tracking done for £220 all in. What a difference the tracking made.

The four tyres fitted were under £295 and they were the good uns (G2 aseddfv whatever!)
