ecu standard or chipped?

hi guys, just had a curious look at my ecu as i am planning on getting the pfc fitted. i was expecting to see standard but i think someones had a tinker.

not sure if this is standard or what it is at all. wiring looks like it may have been messed with?

hope someone can shed some light on it.

heres some pics.. cheers.

That's a chipped ecu with the chip mapped by Prova.

cheers mate.

does anyone know what it actually does then? maybe increase fuelling? boost? etc?

myblackwrx 27 August 2007 08:00 PM

It should increase boost and fuelling maps but the japanese are quite secretive about telling people what is on their chips (Mines are another company who do chips like this and are quite secretive about their maps)

Probably a 16psi map with no fuel cut or speed limit.
Quite aggresive on the timing and a bit of modding to the fueling.
Safer then the Mines, Jun or Zerosports maps but still a bit agressive for UK fuel. Unless it's checked with a wideband lambda (Air-Fuel Ratio check) and with detcans for detonation.

Otherwise I would advise you use some sort of octane booster.

As in the picture, the wires that connect to the ecu look as if they have been altered (with grey tape around them).

does anyone think this may cause a problem when fitting the power fc? or can i just plug it in and get it mapped?

looks like wiring is connected into maf signal and crank position sensor.. probably a fuel cut raiser / defender.. I normally remove as I install a power FC as it is unneeded and want to ensure it is not interferring when it shouldn't!! ;)

usually a couple of wires to cut and then the wire it interfers with to reconnect.. soldering iron at the ready.. lol

you should find the little box there somewhere.. trace the wires to confirm.
