I'm sure this is probably an uber-sial, however..

Top Gear | Eye for an STI

:wonder: :cuckoo:

Rob_Imprezza99 23 August 2007 12:36 PM

That looks like an expensive wheelie bin.

T5NYW 23 August 2007 02:06 PM

If you muppets are going to steal words from another language and use them you might at least get the spelling right.

it is Über or Ueber

notice the umlaut on the U which means replace U with Ue.

Thank you and goodnight.

This is the reality for now guys...............................:cry:Seen it and sat in it and oooooooooooh ****. It's tacky and not very well built by Subaru standard (and that's a story by itself).

Big_Papa_T 23 August 2007 05:56 PM

Thats looks pants! Think the STi will need to be totally transformed if they intend to sell any. Look on the bright side it might slow depreciation on the older models:)

Nah - reckon from his position he has actually shot himself in the back of the head!

Today I too saw the new one "in the flesh".
It's a 168 bhp non turbo top spec doing the rounds of the dealers.
Ghastly metallic goldy/ beigey/ browny colour.
My eyes saw it as Bangley 1 series from the side and rear yet somewhat Saab in the front grille area.
Talking to the sales folk I formed the impression that the hope is that this will generate more interest from those in the Focus / Golf buying segment.
A forlorn hope, unless incentives are good for private and fleet buyers.
Then there's running costs.
Interior, well, in front, felt more confined than my Classic and later I've been in, probably due to "swoopy" dash lines.
Rear space reasonable.
Interestingly shorter overall but with longer wheelbase. Width the same.
Unusual as cars usually get bigger with each new version.
Doors now have glass frames and "shut quality" is ok.
Interior quality one step up but not class leading.
Oh, folding door mirrors, yippee, at last. Still not heated, wtf.
I was told 500 WRX for UK in Oct to see how they go.
Then STI.
Naughty IM, think of the kiddies and the Planet.

Stuns me the closed views of some.

Ive had 9 previous Scoobies, so not scared of spending money on them.

People are making their opinions based on a N/A run of the mill version. Go to your local Subaru or Mitsubishi dealership and look at the N/A versions of their current cars - Now that is crappy for you.

I personally think the new Scooby is a step forward and that as the owners of the current shape have become less desirable, then maybe its good they dont like the new one. Maybe we can get back to the good old days

automodellistagt 23 August 2007 11:13 PM

ill only get one if they make it look identical to the rally proto thats been flying around

anthscooby01 23 August 2007 11:21 PM

Thaks for your comment there Wurzel,

I was unaware of the "Ue" spelling, that is a pearl of wisdom that I shall retain and regurgitate at every possible occasion,

Unfortunately, my keyboard does not enable me to easily place an umlaut, and I didn't have time to arse about with the charater map. In the future I shall endevour to spend more time on my posts.

Hope this goes someway to appease your annoyance !

:notworthy

Truly horrible.

I fail to see how larger alloys, a couple of STi badges and a big spoiler could hope to improve this car and when you compare it to the new Evo X, the sick feeling in your stomach intensifies.
