Cracked LH Head

Just stripped my heads and found a crack between the spark plug and valve seat on the LH head.

The cars a P1 but that roughly translates to a V5 / V6 which I am informed is a common problem.

Can anyone tell me the consequences of just bolting this head back onto short block?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to the next course of action or is buying a new head the only sollution?

Does anyone have an uncracked head for sale?

Thanks
Bo Duke

Sorry to dig this old thread but i've just removed the heads off a p1 engine to find the same cracks. i have some 2005 wrx heads with bent valves would the p1 cams and valve fit in these heads ?

Common problem, we reused the cracked head in the end with no issues. Most of the 'named' tuners have come across this many times and gave us the ok to re-use them.
But if they where building the engine for a customer most would say buy another uncracked head (who would split a pair though?).

The pair of mine have cracks i would re-use them but i'm contempalting having them ported. It's a 500 quid down the toilet if they turn out to be scrap.

All the STi 5/6/P1 heads i have seen have cracks to a lesser or greater degree and dont seem to give any problems when re-used.
Have the head pressure tested and if it is passes then go ahead with having it ported/polished.
