Excellent car, the dogs dangly bits :D:D:D

Reading the thread, you say the DRMotorsport grill wouldn't fit without a few mods, is that because of the Morettes.

LEE P 04 January 2002 10:28 PM

Phil 04 January 2002 11:22 PM

Madman

yes it will need some cutting if you have Morrettes

Phil

Madman 04 January 2002 11:24 PM

Cheers Phil

Might go for the one like yours then - mine's the same red as Dave's so it gave me a good idea of what it would look like

Madman 04 January 2002 11:43 PM

Phil

Just looking at DR Motorsport site and they have a grill "Morette style" was this available when you enquired about yours or has it been manufactured for the Morette conversion

Madman 05 January 2002 01:17 PM

You there Phil

boultsy 05 January 2002 01:53 PM

Madman, I think your correct in thinking that the Morrette stylee is new to this page so probably not there when phil got his?? It does look nice but if you wanted to go for something cheaper take a look at the OEM copy on TSL's site. Not sure if it's the same as mine and phils OEM "Sports" Grill, no badge, but maybe this fits over the centre strut and is just missing from the pic, see what you think (if you haven't already seen it). For the OEM sports grill from a subaru dealer you'll be looking at £200 I think, TSL's is only £45+VAT.

Hope that helps you in your quest for perfection.:D

Boultsy.

Madman 05 January 2002 01:55 PM

Ta for that.

Got there web address by any chance

Madman 05 January 2002 02:00 PM

Found it thanks :D:D

Madman 05 January 2002 02:07 PM

Boultsy

Not bad that - excellent price :D.

Really wanted it to match the grille I was thinking of getting for underneath as well - as in the DRM one - any ideas who might do similar

boultsy 05 January 2002 02:14 PM

what, bottom grill like this?

Madman 05 January 2002 02:18 PM

That's the one

boultsy 05 January 2002 02:28 PM

Yeh I was just drooling over that, I want one and I want one NOW.

Is it a seperate item or part of the front bumper?

If you wanted the Grill to match you could always speak to TSL and see if they can do one to order with the stainless steel grill (Iam assuming that's what you mean by match), OR and that's a big OR, get some silver spray and DIY the TSL one???

Madman 05 January 2002 02:33 PM

Not sure - not well up on these things - that's why I don't know what the "under grill" is called.

Cars a dark red mica so I think it would look the dogs danglys with both grills and the scoop grill in silver.

I want it yesterday - credit card alert.

boultsy 05 January 2002 02:50 PM

SNAP, but mines DBM.

The scoop grill would save having to get an intercooler shield (£60) but not sure what the air flow would be like. I'm off outside to have a look at the front bumper and see if there's any fixing points and how easy/hard it would be to fix in a bottom grill if I was to get a bit of grill from a hardware store?? and some tin snips??, ha ha, well maybe not, but worth a look. Let me know if you have any success hunting a real part or even name,
down and I do likewise. Worth an email to DRM me finks.

boultsy.

Madman 05 January 2002 02:55 PM

I'll email if you like.

Let me know - not worth both doing it.

All this started because I had a thought - what if a big sod off stone went down the scoop, would there be any damage, me thinks yes.

Then saw that picture on DRM and things went from cost to expense.

Thought about B&Q myself

Madman 05 January 2002 03:10 PM

OK boultsy

EMail sent to DRM while you've been out looking.

Will let you know what they say

boultsy 05 January 2002 09:49 PM

Cheers mate.

Thought the same myself, only had the car 3 weeks and have got a couple of small dents in the intercooler and the rad looks worse. Didn't get very far looking into the bumper grill DIY, got distracted and put my new head and sidelights in.

Madman 06 January 2002 09:47 PM

Boultsy

Got to have my PC taken for repair as it's playing up :( so it will be the end of the week before I give you the answer to our questions

boultsy 01 February 2002 12:01 AM

Mad

Finally got round to posting a picture of my handy work:)

http://upload.turbosport.co.uk/galle...2107490618.jpg

The picture dosen't really show this very well, the flash seems to have lit the lower grill better, but they are the same colour, I'll take another picture when the light improves.

Chris L 01 February 2002 09:55 AM

Looks pretty good :)

If anyone is interested, you can now get a similar mesh kit from your dealer - Prodrive offer it as an option (it is in the latest accessories catalogue for the Impreza). I guess it would be more expensive though, because it is Prodrive.

Chris

boultsy 01 February 2002 01:46 PM

cheers Chris, I think I'll pop into my local dealer and pick up a copy to see how much. This will do for the winter, the steel isn't galvanised so had to laquer it to stop it rusting. Not sure how long it'll last though with stones chipping it off, I knew I should have gone for the Ali sheet.

Madman 01 February 2002 10:33 PM

Boultsy

Like it, Like it a lot :D:D

Nice ve-hicle as well mate

Where did you get the stuff, how did you fix it, bla, bla..........

boultsy 02 February 2002 12:39 AM
