Powerstation

Just a quick post to praise the people at powerstation. I've never been before and it was without a doubt the best service I have ever experienced. I only went in for wheel alignment all the staff were polite, helpful, articulate and went out of their way to help us. It was so good even my girlfriend commented on how professional everyone was, she expected rude calenders and a loud radio!!

Whats the deal with the AST tho alot of people say they knock? You had any problems yet jd5217?

911 28 August 2007 06:56 AM

Stock, AST, AVO and most others knock on the nsrear.

More an Impreza thing than aftermarket suspension thing.

You hear about AST's doing it more because there are a lot of AST suspension systems out there.

They only might knock over slow bumps, ie speed bumps.

I have had stock (must admit didn't knock), AVO certainly did and pleanty of other things too, and 2 sets of AST's which rarely knock.

I have the AST's on mine and have no knocking (he says touching wood).

Ah I see, My Mistake, Ye ai thought it was just AST tht did it but like you said the AST is a popular choice. Must be very lucky with mine never had knocking. I am looking into getting a upgrade from std WRX setup 2003 but not sure what to go for, AST seem abit Over The Top just for a road car for me.

The secret with any coil-over is to get the spring rate and the damping range compatable. For a road car (no tracks) the a good compliant ride well damped is good, so springs about 50/40 with firm it up a touch and with a good damping setting afford a great control when you need it, ie pressing on.

The AST's can be supplied this way, and this is why they are popular as Powestation are the only people in the country with all the parts to blend the parts to something that really works.

The single adjustable units for the road are really nice.I loved mine.
The 3 ways are another level up, but so they should be.

In both cases Curtis at Powerstation did a great job on mine, but it is a race/road car (in that order).

no problems whatsoever. the reason i changed is that the stock suspension had failed TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!

filfy 29 August 2007 11:04 AM

My ASTs knock like what 911 said over speed bumps at very low speed. It is really starting to bug me now:mad:

Seeing as i have a leek in one of my shocks on the rear i gave powerstation a bell this morning regarding a service on them all, i nearly fell of my chair when they said it is £75 a damper:eek: seems a bit pricey to me but there is no other option (or is there)
