STi 9 Clutch resovoire onto a classic to allow STi topmount to fit

Hello all,

Going to fit an STi8 top mount, and if I understand correctly the clutch fluid resovoire is in the way.

So I've got one off a newage STi9 (the complete unit, mount into the master cylinder and the hard pipework) But I've noticed that the pipe work runs the oppositie direction to the current pipes.

Classic pipes run to the left (as you look at the engine bay) and fix to the left side suspension turret. The STi9 pipes run to the right.

Has anyone completed this mod - and does it fit?!! I think, after a quick look that the pipes will foul the engine mount in the centre of the car.

Any comment s would be gratefully received!

Cheers all
Dave.

The ones I've seen converted actually use the standard clutch reservoir,

Suck the fluid out, undo the clip at the bottom, remove plastic reservoir, trim approx 30mm (you will need to check to see how much clearance you need) from the bottom of the reservoir, put back on together, check for leaks.

Hey presto:idea:

Hi Dave, there are no issues with the pipework fouling the engine mount, this kit is a very straightforward swap and IMO, looks much neater than chopping down the original reservoir.

fits okay and you can throw away all that pipework that goes to the left as well.

I cut my res down when fitting the IC.

Have a look at Scotts thread here.

That's the thread I'm using as a guide!!!

Just didn't fancy cutting the exisiting res down. I have already bought the STI9 unit, so am going to have a go at fitting the new one.

s5oob's pics look the dogs. Might as well go all out!!

Cheers!
