Superb road, although I believe there's a lot of resurfacing work going on along much of its length. The Ladybower Inn at the Sheffield side is also very good for a break. Other roads near there worth a look would be Strines Moor , Woodhead Pass (A628), Holme Moss (A6024 off Woodhead over the top to Holmfirth) and the Cat'n'Fiddle (A537). Usually busy on all these routes on a weekend and be very wary of Police, they watch them all closely at busy times.

I can say tat police are very busy on there as there was a recent biker death someone I knew and being in the job I must say watch out as they are swamping the area

is it the snake pass or somet else, you go through glossop centre carry on over a mini round about carry on and you end up on nice roads all of a sudden....

I was on it Sat night no road works and was quiet

im not planning on treating it like a race track I just want some vids and pics with nice scenery ill be taking it easy mostly

The A57 Snake Pass emerges from the east of Glossop heading south-east towards Sheffield through the Peak District, passing Ladybower Reservoir where you can pick up the Strines Moor road heading north to meet Woodhead. The A628 Woodhead Pass emerges from the north of Glossop heading east-north-east towards Huddersfield (via Holm Moss to Holmfirth) or Barnsley. The A54/A537 Cat'n'Fiddle runs from Buxton to Macclesfield. All are excellent driving roads and very scenic. A good circular route taking in parts of all these routes would make for a pleasant afternoon.

A once great road now truly ruined by a dumb ass 50mph limit :(
I've not been on it much since that limit was imposed, as everytime you overtake someone now you get flashed and beeped at from all sides.

Remember kids; SPEED KILLS :( (tossers)
