Poll - Ill People At Work
At work I have 4 people around me at varying stages of a cold.
I can feel the onset of one myself as a result. I can't stand people who are obviously ill but come into work anyway infecting everyone around them - Just stay at home. NB: Only applies to people who get paid sick pay as If I got paid by the day I'm sure I'd struggle in as well. |
Depends how bad I am.
p.s. Wheres the poll then??? |

Personally if it's other staff members I wish they would stay at home and not spread their germs around......
However if it's me I'll struggle in so I can hopefully spread the germs around to my co-workers. Don't see why I should have to suffer it on my own when I can spread around to other people and make them suffer too :D |
I always stay home at the slightest excuse. I'm sure it takes longer to recover if you struggle on.

I was sent home on Monday - too ill to work apparently  To be fair, I was coughing like a 40-a-day smoker and it took me 3 attempts to copy a file from one folder to another :lol1:
On the plus side, I think I managed to give whatever I have had to my boss. :D |
I work for a large company where the average number of sick days per person is nearly 9 per year.
If you are out of work on 2 occasions on a rolling 18 month cycle then you get a warning letter sent home. As a manager I dont want that letter going home. Last week I was ill and went to work. I didnt do alot and felt awful. I felt angry at the company for putting me in the situation where I felt I had to go in. However I did do some work where normally I would have stayed off and done nothing It's a difficult call ....... To be fair I think if you are ill enough you wont care if you are being paid or not, you will be led in bed and not care about the consequences. |
It was an easy poll for me since I was not allowed to do my job if I had a cold and it was a very stupid thing to do to risk spreading it to the others at work!
