Cheap mineral oil for run-in period?

I had a bottom end failure of my MY95 WRX and have just replaced the engine with a re-con unit. The replacement unit came bare so I have swapped all the ancilliaries over including the turbo and some pipework. Now I'm pretty sure that I won't have any contamination (bits of metal swarf, etc) from the broken rod from the old engine, but I'd like to run the new one up with some cheap, new 10/40 engine oil and a new filter for maybe an hour or so, before draining the oil out and replacing it with quality stuff and another new filter, just to make sure that any bits of metal get flushed out and to bed the new motor in.

What's everyones opinion on this? Is it okay to use mineral oil for such a short period and making sure that I use little or no boost (to keep oil temp down), and basically using the cheap oil as a thorough engine flush?
Cheers!

Thanks, I'll give it a gentle workout tomorrow, then drain and refill... Ooooo, it'll be nice to get the car back!
