Help with product types
 

I have a Black MY03 STI (view my Scooby) and require some paint finishing products.
After reading many threads and the Poilshed Bliss guides I am totally confused as there is too much choice.
I want advice on what to apply after the wash and clay bar procedure ie polish, wax, paint protector.
I have used Poorboys polish and wax but I dont find these products any better than some cheapo Halfords own brands.:confused:
I like the idea of the Blackfire stuff as I think it gives that "wet look" that I like and not overly priced.
Can some of the pro detailers advise me which items to buy, no alternatives or options just the specific polish and wax and maybe a paint protector (if this is needed) that will suit my car best.

the blackfire gloss stuff on my WRC Blue and it is excellent gear, had quite a few looks an comments on how good it looks. The only thing I would suggest is do 1 panel at a time cause it can be a bitch to remove if your hand polishing:confused:
I used Jeff Werkstat acrylic sealant on top of that but must admit the guides can be confusing:Whatever_

it'll come down to choice of finish. an acrylic will give you great sharp reflections on black. where a carnuba based wax will give you that great wet look and a great warmth to the paint finish. i've not used the blackfire range but have used both the acrylic and carnuba jeffs werkstatt and can say they are both superb.

polish wise, there's only one brand that i will use and that's menzerna. get yourself some intensive polish and a german aplicator if applying by hand. if applying by porta cable or similar then intensive polish along with final finish or ff II.

For polishing to remove defects like swirls and scratches, then Menzerna Intensive Polish applied via the white side of a German Pad is the way to go on Subaru paint...

Alternatively, working by machine, Menzerna RD3.02 is a better bet, via a polishing pad, then either 106FA or 85RD to refine the finish using a finishing pad...

Once the polishing stage is done and the paint looking flawless, it's time to choose the last step product system. This thread should help...

The Blackfire range is certainly great, and I would go with Gloss Enhancing Polish topped with Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, and if you are feeling flush and want the wettest look possible, then the Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax on top...

After all the hard work is done, simply top up the last step product used every 6-8 weeks or so after a wash, and then 1-2 times a year strip the lot by claying and start over afresh.

Yes, although VAG paint is a bit harder, so working by hand you won't get moderate to severe defects out. The choice of last step product listed does work very well on Black Magic paint, but there are other options open to you as well. See the sticky thread at the top of the section titled "What to use and why on darker metallic finishes" for more ideas and finishes. :)
