C4 tonight - America's Deadliest Prison Gang

Documentary at 1030pm about the Aryan Brotherhood - an ultra right, ultra violent gang controlling prisons right across America and how, at least some of them, were ultimately brought to justice.

Looks scary and fascinating in equal amounts.

Dont see what all the fuss was about tbh, thought we all knew that sort of cr@p went on in prison?

It didn't live up to the billing it got. Some of it was fairly brutal - Although I do have to wonder why, when someone was being stabbed repeatedly, someone felt it was better to film it happening rather than to, you know, try and stop it.

I agree - it did not quite match the preview/press material.

Some brutal stuff - although most of it was in the 80's.

That's not the point, well, it's not the point that worried me... Or would worry me if I was a 'merican.

They're an organised Mafia style organisation who's members - at the grass roots level - get their thrills bashing, stomping and knifing people. At a more senior level, they control extortion, rackets, drugs etc... All the usual criminal activities. Whilst they may have grown to prominence in jail, their activities aren't bounded by it. Prisoners serve their sentences and are then let out to practice on the rest of society.

One story in particular: They couldn't "get" to someone who'd been Witness Protected, so they sent someone around to kill his father instead. :(

Apart from the family members type thing at least most of the attacks were going on in prison, couldnt happen to a nicer bunch ;) :D

I thought it was amusing at one point. There was this FBI detective saying how they were throwing loads of resources at the problem, and how great they were doing. I could not help but think it was the law enforcement profession that had caused the issue. It was they who armed them and allowed the drugs into the jail.

It should not be that hard to stop weapons and drugs getting into a jail if you really want to. Some resources, some planning, and no corrupt guards would be a damn fine starting point.

I did, really enjoyed those programmes - was the south african bloke the one who was talking about arse raping other prisoners, and torturing/killing them if they tried to stop him?
