Days Of Chelmsford

What is it with these guys?

Went in there today looking to buy an STi with a budget upto around £19k. They had none on display outside so I went inside and the salesman asked if I needed any help. I explained what I was looking for and that I have a few days of work to look for one. Well I might as well have been talking to a brick wall - I must have been in the way. He clearly had no interest in me, clearly didn't want might my business and it felt like I was back at school sitting in the headmasters office.

....and this was from the sales manager.

I got EXACTLY the same reception when I bought my current scooby approximately 3 years ago and hence why I went and bought one from a subaru dealer in Surrey.

I know Tissey has had problems with them regarding parts .... I thought they might have changed but clearly not.

Certainly won't be getting my custom back there ever nor would I ever recommend them by word of mouth to anyone else.

Searching back through previous posts on scoobynet .... they STILL are "Dazed of Chelmsford".

Don't even get me going about Days  .

Bearing in mind Essex has a rather good ground base of Subaru Fans and with Wilsons at Romford dropping the sale of Subarus, you would have thought they had made that extra effort.

Clearly not !!

I've got an 05 sti i've just put up for sale good spec if interested let me no:thumb:

Gangsta Smurf 31 July 2007 08:29 PM

had loads of problems with them when I wanted a WR1 but have been using them to service my 06 and they are top notch. Salesman who originally didn't want to know me has now left and the new guy was very helpfull and courteous.

Donkster 31 July 2007 08:36 PM

It is a shame Wilsons no longer sell Subaru's. I've had mine serviced there the last two times and have been very satisfied with them.

I've got a few days off so i'll be trawling the subaru site and making some phone calls. If it means a bit of travelling to dealers then so be it. I'll take the trouble and strife and stay at a B&B or two pretend it's a short break holiday for her :norty: .

I went to Dazed for parts to do a service, and because the scoob was an Import, they didn't want to know, so got service parts from ScoobyClinic, Roger Clark or Scooby Parts, parts always came next day!

Also Matt and Olly @ Roger Clark are VERY helpful, I highly reccomend them!

Looie 31 July 2007 09:14 PM

Also worth looking at Welch in Cambridge - takes me 35 mins up the M11 from Harlow to get to them, quicker than it takes me to get to Wilson's!

The sales people seem to know their stuff, or at least in my experience they did. Don't know about the Service part yet as not used them.

They did have a WR1 coming into stock when I bought my STi if thats any use.

Same thing happened to me re: import .

I had a prang in my Classic (Gangsta was in it at the time when he was a wee nipper ;) :D ) , I needed to replace front bumper, headlight, side light.
When I came to finishing off the repair, I didn't have enough 'push in' nylon plugs to hold the plastic inner wing shroud in position.

I phoned Days and asked if they had the bits, and was told 'yes, we keep loads in stock', I then said, 'you are sure, I am coming from Shoebury, specifically for them ?' , ....... 'yes we have them'

Drove along to Days, went to parts Dept. and told them I had phoned earlier about the parts, 'oh yes, can we have the reg. No' ...... I told him, and nothing came up on their computer. I then told him it was an import. To which he more or less showed me the door.

I got very angry, asked to speak to the manager, and told the manager the full story, adding that 'I was sure that the parts are no different from the UK ones!!!'

The manager then looked after me, and was very helpful.

I wouldn't go back though now ........... There are many others out there that are more courteous and professional.

V4JDMSTi 31 July 2007 10:15 PM

that's days for you. i had an agrument with some prat in the part department about the "dump valve" he told me subarus don't have them. when i said ok fair enough they have the recirculating type he still said they didn't. walked out of there and have never been back and never will go back. unfortunately there are quite a few subaru places in essex that will no longer get my custom.

the way i'm going to run my business is the way i want to be treated. you get one chance and then the rest is history.

SirFozzalot 31 July 2007 10:20 PM

I have only had one experience of Days....and it wasn't great! :(

I phoned to enquire about the price of some parts and the bloke I was speaking to was no use whatsoever! He couldn't "confirm" any prices of the parts I wanted over the phone and could only guess and give me a rough idea! :freak3: WTF?!?!?! Yeah....thanks....click burrrrrrrrrrr

I ordered a fog-light after a stone smashed one of mine & arranged for them to fit it.

When I turned up they had ordered a pair.

I said I only need one.

They said now they are ordered they can't send them back.

I said tough I only ordered one.

They said but you fit them in pairs.

I said not if you already have them fitted & have only broken one.

They said they thought I was fitting them because I didn't have any.

I said you have my vehicle details & they would tell you it's a MY03 WRX & they have them fitted as OE from new.

Reluctantly they said they would just charge me for one plus fitting.

I said I am not happy about how you have handled this I will go elsewhere & went to Wilsons.

The director Surguy phoned me later to apologize but it was a bit too late for that.

I took a set of faulty mats back once & they tried to say they couldn't issue a refund only a replacement. When I checked the replacement they had the same fault as the ones I was returning. Go figure. I insisted on a refund which I was reluctantly given in the end. I left with a bad feel about the whole experience.

Mark ;)

I live 2 miles from Days, yet I drove 30 miles to buy my new scooby, say no more.

Says it all really.

I went to Canterbury for one of mine which doesn't say much for Essex full stop. :(

Mark ;)

SirFozzalot 01 August 2007 07:55 AM

I went to Ayr in Scotland :p :D :D :D

Mind you, when I did go to Days, they showed total indifference :(

bibo_boy 01 August 2007 11:45 AM

I looked at getting an STI from there a while back and they didn't seem interested?

Also the parts departments like something out of the stoneage!!!!

I asked why they didn't stock any merchandise and they said because it would all be stolen?

Diesel_DC 01 August 2007 11:55 AM

In all fairness I have dealt with the parts dept several times and have always found them to be very helpfull.

Tissy 01 August 2007 12:27 PM

I can see a pattern forming !!
