Durrr, I presume that's for the PC then?

DemonDave 02 January 2002 11:54 PM

Cheers for the link

DazV 03 January 2002 12:54 AM

Yeah, PC, although I'd imagine there'll be a PS2 version attached to some magazine in the next couple of months.

Finished playing this last night. Looks and sounds great, but is the gameplay there? I found the AI pretty cool too.

I'd download it but the site is down to due some SQL errors. Has anyone got a URL for a direct download?

TIA.

i think this is the single player version but as english is only language im a bit limited :-

*link removed just to be on the safe side, as most of the gaming sites are pulling it left right and centre at the request of EA, so not prudent to link it here methinks.

saying that though, its worth noting that this single player demo is not official.....
apparently its a press demo for them to try and take screenshots etc, but its been leaked out. Not sure where we stand with any potential legal issues so please feel free to remove chrisb if you are concerned.

Hmm, good point Pete. Not sure we stand on that?

Maybe it's best to wait for DemoNews to come back up rather than link to it directly?

ptholt 03 January 2002 12:34 PM

Just been checking around, EA has been requesting gaming sites not to offer the demo, so I've removed the above link.

There is an 'official' single player demo coming out on Jan 8th apparently.

ChrisB 03 January 2002 12:37 PM

Thanks Pete :)

ptholt 03 January 2002 12:43 PM

no probs chris,

btw have just sent you an email that you need to read NOW and act upon quickly :)

Blow Dog 03 January 2002 02:22 PM

The issue is this. The single player demo was provided as an exclusive for a german computing magazine and also was marketed to be sold at $4.99 at Amazon. When a reader uploaded the demo to his server, it spread like wildfire. The online games newsgroups then decided to also host it because it seemed like everybody had hosted it.

Apparently, EA had not asked anyone yet to NOT host it, even though distribution rights had been broken.

It's available at many places now, I'll post some links up.

Good article on CNN that covers the whole 'leaked demo' story...
