How much can I expect to lose...

...on an 07 UK STi with 1 thousand miles on it?

firstly as a private sale and then as a p-ex?

annoying kind of post I know, sorry, but there are a few traders on here I think?:(

Terminator X 27 July 2007 08:17 PM

You'll lose the VAT straight away so 20% ish for a private sale. P/Ex wil be more than that, say 33%?

TX.

renny 27 July 2007 08:25 PM

Christ Elmer, you aint had it 5 mins.......

Got summit else in mind or just bored with it ?

I'm sure someone on here will have it off your hands, very nice example you have.

Elmer Fudpucker 27 July 2007 08:27 PM

I could kick myself right up me own arse for buying it!

Why's that then, fed up with the tail lights ?? :)

Charles aka Charlie 27 July 2007 08:50 PM

Yes, what he said (above). Why you fed up with it

Elmer Fudpucker 27 July 2007 09:35 PM

Would 24K be too much?

scooby222 27 July 2007 10:44 PM

to give a rough idea i was going to change my 05 sti ppp at 6 months and 4000 miles for something more economical and the best px price i could get was 17,500 or the dealer would buy back at 20k. hence ive still got it. hope you can get better money for yours, its a cracking example :thumb:

Mark'sWRX 28 July 2007 08:49 AM

Losing the VAT is a myth. How come cars with a waiting list are worth more second hand than new. It'll be worth what someone is willing to pay. Main dealers are selling them for £24k ish, so privately It'd be worth £21-22.

woody2846 28 July 2007 09:11 AM

Just to give you some sort of idea I have a pre-reg car done 0 miles in our showroom-in blue Type uk sti and thats up for £23995

Ah,are you a Subaru Dealer?

if so have you had any complaints about the p1ss poor throttle response and general lacklustre performance of the 07's?:(

woody2846 28 July 2007 09:23 AM

Hi yes I am a main dealer,
We have had a few comments

Elmer Fudpucker 28 July 2007 09:29 AM

In America Subaru US have a fix for the problem where a reflash of the ecu is needed.

Anything like that going to happen here?..

Thanks Jon

woody2846 28 July 2007 09:32 AM

Nothing has been mentioned to me directly, Subaru do a lot of things behind closed doors and the dealers are normally last to know. Bear in mind the new STI coming out so they may be looking into it....but really im not to sure mate.

I've heard Prodrive have been having trouble developing the PPP for the 07's due the fly by wire throttle:wonder:

billythekid 28 July 2007 09:34 AM

Trade in will depend on what you are trading it against but if its a car of similar value then I would say approx 22k. Private sale, about 23k.

Expect these figures to go down fairly quickly though so I would not hang about as befor you know it you will be talking 19k for a trade in.

Luminous 28 July 2007 09:36 AM

I don't have or have driven the car you own. I do know that a lot of owners complain about throttle response (turbo lag mostly). I believe the UK car has 3 cats as standard. Removing these 3 standard cats and replacing those with a single sports cat plus a remap normally sorts this.

Would an ecutek remap solve the problem? Should give you more power too. For around £600 you could maybe get the car sorted without losing £kkkk's with trade in.

Would that not invalidate the warranty though? :wonder:

Terminator X 28 July 2007 11:52 AM

The cars you mention below (with a waiting list) are few & far between, say 1% of total car population. For the rest of us ... you'll lose at least the VAT as soon as you drive a new car off the forecourt.

scooby-tc 28 July 2007 11:57 AM

Don't sell it Jon,just remap it and the smile will return im sure :D

jameswrx 28 July 2007 11:58 AM

Did you not test drive that type of car?

Does the sti have 3 cats?

The UK WRX does, not sure on the sti? If it does then, yes it kills the throttle responce and bogs so badly between changes that it's like the gearing is spread wide. Just removing the centre cat helps remove this bogging a lot (as I've done it)

Probably not what this thread is about though.

Did you ever test a JDM variant before buying a UK spec car? I know people go on and on about the JDM model being the better car but honestly, the difference is night and day.

i thought you sounded bored with it from the get go mate:( shame that it hasn't turned out to be the car you hoped for.

go on, twist my arm and i'll straight swap it for my white 05 sti;) (you seemed to like the 05!!)

would expect a dealer to buy for 21k?, private maybe a grand more. ouch! desirable colour goes in your favour though:) parkers says px 20k private 21k

Technically a remap probably would invalidate a warranty though a dealer would be hard pushed/unable to find it on a diagnostic check. If a car is having no other modifications then there shouldn't be any warranty issues unless one feels the need to be extremely honest.

Agreed; and to suggest up to 33% is ridiculous!
