neil.p1 26 July 2007 06:33 PM

dan83590 26 July 2007 06:35 PM

Max 1.0-1.1bar I believe.

neil.p1 26 July 2007 06:45 PM

no way that is going till make my car dead lol my car is running at 1.5 wat is believed till have happened is the cat in the up pipe has broke up in the turbo my car is still boosting properley but there is a rattle sort of sound coming from the turbo

bryhp 26 July 2007 06:51 PM

I would take turbo off asses the damage if turbo is ok then maybe a new seal kit in and slap it back on or try pick up TD05, i run td04 at moment but am changing to TD05 20 G very soon. Hopping to run 1.6 1.7 bar

I guess from your user name you have a P1, if so I thought P1's didn't have a cat in the up pipe.

It will fit but you will need a remap.

exactly what happened to my turbo..swapped cat up pipe for de-cat up pipe, propper fooked the turbo!

neil.p1 26 July 2007 07:47 PM

wat sounds was your turbo making when this happened

Scott.T@PolarPerformance 26 July 2007 07:49 PM

1.5.... that'll be what killed it then....

neil.p1 26 July 2007 07:53 PM

i doont think it i think the cat has brke will no more tommorrw when it has been taken out

exvaux 26 July 2007 07:55 PM

why what are they meant to run at?Mine runs 21 psi whatever that is in bar and has done since i got the car from subaru near 2 years ago, mines a V5 typeR always thought it was a bit high when folk talk about glanzas etc running 12 psi and mine @21

STi5_TypeR_VLtd 26 July 2007 08:33 PM

My MY99 StiV Type R is running 15psi (1bar) which as the car is stock would be the factory standard boost. It has the VF28 on it. Can't tell you what the wifes StiV wagon is running as no boost gauge on it at the mo but it also has the VF28 so expect that to also be at 1bar.

Scott.T@PolarPerformance 26 July 2007 09:04 PM

around 1 bar standard, most remapped cars run 1.3/1.4bar midrange dropping to around 1.2bar at the top end.

...totally agree, - the TD04 is a top little turbo, with ported oe headers/uppipe you'll hit 1bar as early as 2500rpm.

Top end is the biggest let-down, - after about 5250rpm it's all over in terms of flow through the turbine. 1.3 bar with proper supporting mods and mapping is good for 260-280bhp.

If you go for the TD04, why not port the turbine inlet? Won't give you anymore power but should help boost response, cyl. temps, etc.:)

sorry for the hijack thread but my car is standard AFAIK and it jumps to 21 psi if i put my foot down and revs hit 3000ish in any gear and stays there till it hits redline....not that i do it that often as its quite scary seein the clocks hitting 8000 rpm just wondering if my cars been played with....or the boost guage is plumbed in wrong
