Help import woes

A couple of weeks ago i bought a Mazda jap import that looked spot on apart from a small paint run. We asked the dealer if it had had a respray to which he replied no, a week later we gave it a good run 150 miles each way and it emptied the expansion tank through the overflow pipe but didn't show signs of over heating on the gauge. Then i found the auction sheet which some kind person on another forum translated it was an insurance repair had a damaged bonnet & front wing damaged core support (what ever that is) damaged three large dints over 100mm on other panels two more smaller dints golf ball size and numerous scratches over 200mm long so to say it hadn't had a respray is a bit of a lie! The report also said that under the vehicle was rusty which i missed because it had just been wax oiled.
Do you think i am entitled to give it back for an exchange or full refund? how much engine damage has been done as it must of regularly been running hot due to loss of coolant and the blatant lies about the respray.

Hmmmmm difficult, but you have the Sale Of Goods Act on your side. BUT, does the Importer read/speak/understand Japanese???

He may try and claim ignorance.

depends who painted it. I think anything described as having a paint run would be screaming 'respray'

the other knocks are standard japan so not a big deal but wax oiling over the rust is bad news. Chances are the importer did the spray work so as stated it isn't as described. proving it might be tricky but if they said in the advert that it was a fresh import by them you might have more of a chance.

5t.

it wasn't really advertised just sat on his forecourt he had already registered it two weeks before so i don't know if he actually imported it but he only sells imports so i would say he has a good idea what the auction report means, he also has a body shop so he could of done the respray but i carn't prove it.

Right first off speak to the dealer. He may be helpful, ne may not.

I remember first importing some cars and I met up with the buyer from Japan when he was visting the UK. We popped in to a few places to look at stock. One chap showed us a car and was genuinely excited by it - he even got the auction report to show it was in A1 condition. When we translated the accident damage he almost collapased. So it is possible he didn't know ...

I see you live in Buxton

Your new car isn't by any chance an MX5 is it:wonder:

Did you by any chance buy it from the alleged 'specialist' in Congleton:eek:
