Has Anyone Used MFI for a Kitchen ?
 

Been in today, saw a lovely kitchen, coming within our budget.

Dealt with a very proffesional / helpful / knowledgeable salesman...

...didn't actually find any negative things to say about them, I'm guessing there will be a few horror stories but has anyone got any first hand experience of them ?

I won't be using them to fit the kitchen btw.

I know they aren't doing too well financially so should be able to screw a few £k off the first price they gave me.

Did you ask about delivery times?

Can't comment on their kitchens, but their customer services used to be pretty good. We bought a bedroom from them, and whilst I was fitting it, I dropped by drill and chipped one of the wardrobe doors (yeah, clumsy sod, I know!). Phoned them up to see if we could buy a replacement, and they sent me one - at no cost!

One tip, make sure you dry fit everything, and have all the pictures/ plans they / you did.


They come with no fitting instructions other than the basic carcass assembly stuff.

Buy it from Howden's instead. They are a MFI subsidary that supplies to trade, similar range, cheaper and the units come pre-assembled.

Have kitted out the kitchen and a few other rooms from MFI, and have been very pleased with quality of the product. However, have had several bad experiences with the quality of the delivery, check everything preferably before they leave, and be prepared to send stuff back if it's damaged. Also be prepaired that the replacement will probably also be damaged…………all due to careless handling.

Schrieber from MFI are pre-assembled.

My ma & pa got one off them about 150years ago still looks ok. So they cant be to bad.

I had one fully fitted a few years ago - 100% happy with the service. Wasn't that expensive either.

I bought my kitchen from Howdens it's very similiar to a one MFI do.
What put me off buying from MFI was the fact they told me I had to pay for the kitchen before delivery and delivery at that time was about 6 weeks.

Also if for any reason you need a kitchen panel, you phone MFI, MFI phones the warehouse and eventually someone will delivery it.
Howdens have the kitchens in there warehouses no need to wait for delivery.

Had the same with MFI 6 weeks wait and they have your cash in ful for that time, not on really.

6 weeks can then become 7 or 8 if you cannot easily sort a delivery (usually to suit them).

I like the products just not the 'full money up front' and looooooooooooooooong waiting times.

I have fitted a lot of them, quality is fine as is fit and finish. One word of warning though is get the price list (then one with the dimensions in) and measure/design yourself!! The sales moknkeys at MFI really are **** at it and the kitchen is unlikely to fit properly - most customers don't get to see this as the fitters adjust and make up for it.
remember also that Hygena and Schriber are the same company in reality - no big difference between them so don't get sucked in to paying more for the 'quality' of schriber

Get yourself down to Howdens joinery - wouldn't go anywhere else :thumb:

You can even get a printed quote from them and then go back with the quote when you're ready to order and all the part numbers are on there.
