Panic buying. Used to get it when we lived in Shetland and the ferry couldn't sail from the mainland due to bad weather.

Fisticuffs in the Co-op over bags of Silver Spoon and pan loaves :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Police at some of the supermarkets in cheltenham

340BHP-WRX 22 July 2007 04:40 PM

I've just got back from Bristol, bought a few packs of bottled water-no problems down there :)

I've got work in Tewkesbury tomorrow but not sure what's going on at the moment.

My girlfriend works in Tescos in Cheltenham, her boss just phoned and said they will be shutting for at least 2 days :brickwall

rgv_stu 22 July 2007 05:55 PM

just been to the anchor on the severn for a few pints and it looks high but not liable to flood. what a gay country we live in, cant even cope with some heavy downpours

Nat 22 July 2007 06:19 PM

RE: Fights in supermarket - It's amazing and slightly worrying how quickly behaviour and society breaks down when there is a small(ish) problem like this, there would be anarchy within a few days if we ever faced a big disaster accross the country!

DEEDEE 22 July 2007 06:22 PM

Its all them Asda Tesco Morrisons ect, shopping trolleys dumped in the rivers, probably more rubbish in them than water.

The Rig 22 July 2007 06:40 PM

imagine if it was a national crisis !!

as some1 said, other countires manage,we just go nuts and fight or do stupid things,i expect the fights were for the person who had 5 bottles and wanted 6 !!

Wait til everyone has a bath tonight. :lol1:

If it wasn't so serious it would be comical..

:( Going to be a rough few days by the sounds of it, hope everyone has plenty of candles!

I am a little confused though...I can understand electric going off, but why are they turning off the water supply?

The water treatment works that supplies most of Gloucestershire got flooded so badly last night that they had to shut the plant down and evacuate the staff !
