Manifold and up pipe

Hey guys,

What's generally regarded as a good manifold and up pipe system? My dad used to have a Gruppe-S manifold and up-pipe from a group buy sometime back. And that seemed to do a very good job. But what do others recommend, it would have to be unequal though!

Cheers,

i've had Gruppe-S for 2 years without any problems so i recommend them. try to avoid headers with the a flexi joint where the up pipe meets the headers like megan racing ones as they tend to crack near the joint.

The Gruppe S uppipe is probably too large a diameter to provide optimum spool and response.
Can you measure the uppipe diameter ?

I can't say I can, it was on his old car. How good would a set of your ported headers be, and what up pipe would you recommend to go with? It's an 04 WRX. Or are there any other manifolds you could recommend to go with something like an 18g Td05?

Cheers.

ScoobyDoo : I am obviously biased but I would say that in terms of earlier spool and responsiveness with a wider torque spread and willingness to rev/breath at higher revs, then properly ported headers with a matched up-pipe would be an excellent choice and there will be many people out there with that combination that can comment.

i will second this comment by Harvey, there is no specific need to go to the expense of an alternative manifold over ported headers as these work very well in pretty much all applications. Unless you are after super high 450+ bhp then you will do just fine on a decent set of ported headers with a matched up-pipe.
I am also biased though as i brought a set from Harvey, i am very pleased with the results, so much so that i do not feel the need to change them even after i rebuild my engine with forged internals and fitting a 20G turbo! Ported headers will work fine for my application, that i am sure.
