help me scoobynetters

well my car was tuned recently and right towards the end of the session i was told to pull as the mapper checked my engine as he said it started to run rich all off a sudden, we did so and on quick inspection there was nothing wrong with the pipes so we carried on and finished offf. then the next day i the car started to mis fire under 3k revs but when on full boost there wasnt a problem. also my fuel consumption on motorway cruising was ridiculous i put £20 in and got 60 miles which is very bad for my car

i left the car a few days as i didnt need it then the real problems came just sitting on idle it sounds rough as hell and it now doesnt go past 3k revs and if you give it enough revs after a while it cuts out so im kind of thinking my engine is flooding with fuel

i was told to take my plugs out give them a clean and pressure test the system which i did, (the plugs at the tip where as black as the ace of spades) the plugs were totally cleaned up and re fitted after the test and the readings were

piston 1 140
2 135
3 140
4 140

my phone isnt on me but one piston was 5psi down on the others if i remember correctly and i was told they should be around the 150 mark so im assuming that there ok where they are.

any hows they were re fitted but didnt make any difference im getting some leads next and if that dont work a coil pack is there anything it could be, the mapper is coming to mine on friday as thats his only free day and if i need a part i dont want to have to try and source one as bury is crap for getting hold of parts i would rather get them in advance

first of all the compression test seems fine mate. its not the reading but the amount of pressure between each cylinder. More than 15 psi apart is bad new and could be possible ring problems...

Do you have any check engine lights on???

if it were me i would not guess at the fault and start spending money on parts that may not be faulty.

as the problem only occured during/after mapping i would leave it until the mapper takes a look

Check Maf and oxygen sensors.

Where did you get it mapped, it can just as easily be mapped wrong, than right!

Get your fuel pressure checked as a first thing, not worth throwing bits at it as that will tell you if the pressure is right or not!

how do i check the fuel pressure regulator i have the fse one

i can get hold of a commander can anyone tell me what to look for when it comes to checking the sensors

i have written down some info from the check sensor page it reads as follows

af-1 0.01v ign black circle
thro 0.48v str white circle
bst 2.33v a/c white circle
wtrt 3.38v atr black circle
airt 4.88v ics white circle
02-1 0.00v
extm 5.10v

everything else was a white circle on the list.

if anyone is a apexi guru and can talk us through looking at the commander i would be in debt to you as im hoping to go to jae but i can only do it in the afternoons as i borrow the commander off my friend

my number is 07792683095 cheers dave

Hi mate is this "af-1 0.01v " changing and increasing when you rev it.On my car when that reading is static it means my MAF has failed:mad:
again.

Do you have a FMIC on the car ? Favourite is a pipe that may look to be on but is sitting on the edge of the pipework.
I assume the commander readings were with the eng off ? A set with the engine at idle would shine more light.

yes these were with ign on only my battery is also dead from not being moved and when i try jumping it it revs for a few secs then cuts off i will try and get a set with the engine but it aint easy where i live cause my other car blocks the road when i need to jump it

andy are you available tomorrow afternoon to guide us through if i can get hold of the commander again
