Defi Link 52mm Oil Pressue Gauge Problem

Gauge is 6 years old and is linked to Boost and Oil Temp gauges that work fine.

Just wondering if anyone else has had these problems -

About a year ago it started to flick around uncontrollably on startup then settle down to read a steady but obviously wrong value. Then it would work fine. Now it doesn’t flick around anymore but just settles to an obviously wrong value. Ie 2 kgf/cm2 on startup or 10 when warm on tick over. Over the time it has worked fine but this has become less and less to the point it works ok one drive in ten.

My initial thought was to replace the pressure sensor, but now due to the erratic nature of the readings I'm thinking I need to change the gauge.

I have regular free access to a Subaru Select Monitor to check the oil pressure and in the 10k miles since the fault the engine runs great so it's not the pressure itself, I'm sure.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with mine from new although I don't think it was as bad as yours. Anyhow, I discovered by wiggling (technical term :) ) the wire around at the sender end that it settled down for a bit. The problem was a bad connection on one of the wires going into the sender which was replaced and has worked fine since. Now that I've said that... Hope this helps.
