acetone mixed w/fuel increase 15-35%!!!
 

as per title.... i watched this metacafe clip about increasing mpg when u add a little acetone to ur fuel. has any1 tried it? will it damage ur engine?
any info?

Acetone is a solvent, and a strong one at that, for MANY plastics.

I'm not sure I'd try it until somone else has.

myth was busted on mythbusters, they did prove though that you can run a diesel on cooking oil :P

IIRC they got something pathetic like 0.2 mpg loss (remember US gallons are less than ours :) ).

Mind, it doesn't take into account that extra tuning of fuel mixture and ignition timing may or may not get a gain.
