Updated KnockLink dashboard install pic request

Hey folks, After seeing a thread like this eons ago and finally buying a new KnockLink tonight after all these years, I wanted to get a more up to date selection of images from you guys that have ripped the 'ugly as sin' display boxes apart and modified them to integrate directly in to the interior of the car. The old threads that I dug up had mostly broken links in for the images so a fresh thread is in order methinks! I am toying with either fitting it in to my dash display panel, or into my triple pillar pod, as I have to rip the pod out next week anyway. VERY rarely do I ever leave anything unmodified so this is simply begging to be done.

If/when you guys have a sec to snap and post a pic of your modified KnockLink interior installs, I and others I am sure will be eternally grateful!

cheers,

Nick :).

This is from PTMW! but I've got a KL & a Lambda and am myself wondering where I should put them...

Please tell me that this isn't happening ;) :lol1:

Be off with you troll! :p

The KnockLink boxes look pants and due to the fact that my engine almost had complete piston failure before I bought the car, was rebuilt & rebored to 2.2 and doesn't feel 110% right, I feel justified in wanting to see whether or not I get 'pretty pretty' lights when I floor it, which to be honest is the vast majority of the time ;).

Bump before the wekend ;).

Pics of the box apart and what you do on these installs would be useful? Anyone got such pics and pics of getting clocks out.

In the 2 pics it looks like the leds are fitted into the surround, not the actual dash pod :). It's actually fairly easy to get the main dash pod out too, only the connectors can be a touch fiddly but I have managed it many times before on classics.

Cheers so far guys.

Sorry for crap quality but camera phone on my Blackberry is an after thought

Just fitted the Knocklink today. Good thing is that there will be an amount of reflection via the lens on the plastic fascia ensuring that if the big one goes, you'll notice it! The others are snugged down but still noticeable.

LL will probably do the same side as the rev counter but vertical

Got to ask & I have done this before, got the led's from maplins, but in the last piccie have you done the same, or just removed the top half of the case and drillled the cowl, looks spot on which ever :D

well spotted ;)

all i did was take the guts out of the knocklink, use the case as a template and then after drilling fit in place with some trusty gaffa tape :D

^^^Ditto :) Why make things complicated?

Carl Davey 31 October 2007 11:21 PM

My effort. I wasn't impressed with the Knocklink first time around so i used one of Roojai's Detalarms. Much more compact and available in DIY form for a fraction of the cost of the Koncklink.

As you say the easier the better :D
