Do drum kits go in Imprezas?

Hi All,

Totally random question (especially for my first post here), but for any drummers out there I'd love some help/advice from people who own an Impreza and a drum kit. Basically I'm looking at selling my MK3 Golf Gti and getting myself an Impreza for around £6K.

However, I play drums and regularly carry my drum kit around for gigs etc. I'm just a little worried that getting my bass drum onto the back seat of an Impreza is going to be a nightmare if the doors are too narrow etc :wonder:

I'm looking at 4 doors, and I'd be gobsmacked if they were too small but the last thing I need is to get an Impreza and find that my kit just doesn't go in, that wouldn't be funny at all (not for me anyway :lol1: ). It's a 22" bass drum in case anyone wants to know.

Like I said, bit of a random question but it's pretty important for me:)

Thanks all...

You may be better off looking at a wagon, the boot space otherwise is minimal :(

Sonic' 12 July 2007 11:52 AM

A wagon, im certain they would, Bubba Po might be your man for that though, as his son has a drum kit :thumb:

Not sure about a 4 door though, I have had a 6foot garden shed in my 4 door classic :D

not quite the same thing, the boot isnt very deep on them though, and the doors dont open that wide

My word that was a quick reply:) Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not a big fan of the estate version. Most of the stuff that goes in the boot is cymbals, pedals etc, and can be shuffled around as necessary, don't know whether that's going to be a problem or not.

I think I might have to go and see an Impreza in the flesh, should give me a some idea of what space is available. All my drums go on the back seats and in the footwells of my Golf, I used to be able to get my kit into my Nova with a little cursing and swearing.

Also forgot to mention I was talking about classics, not new ones

Classic saloon:

Stands in the footwell behind the front seats and ride, high-hat and crash slotted between the stands and the rear seats (with both front seats as far forward as possible). Bass on the back seat (assuming your case isn't oversized), snare next to bass (on its side). Toms and other bits and pieces in the boot.

It's a very tight squeeze, and if it were me, I'd buy a wagon.

I found having no rear seats helped. ;)

Yeah, 4 door saloon, just possible if no passengers.

The 22" bass drum will fit on the back seat (I'm not a drummer, my mate is).

Yes, my lad's drumkit goes into my wagon easily. His kit's got smallish drums (I think the bass drum's 19") but even if it was bigger the seats fold down as well. They're just as quick as the saloon. :thumb:

Just be aware that they won't fold on a JDM model, only a UK (IIRC).

(Hello, Mr Po ;))

Thanks a lot everyone, I wasn't really expecting much of a response to this post:notworthy

I'm not expecting to have loads of space for other people, just as long as I can get the kit in, I'll be happy. I'll see if I can get down to see an Impreza next week so I can get an idea on size.

Just not that keen on the wagons looks, I know they're still damn quick cars.

Once again, you guys rock:thumb:

I didn't know that, Mr Taylor. :)

Hello, yourself. :D

I have appreciated your little comments over recent weeks. :thumb:

You'd get a bigger drumkit in the back of an A6 Avant though :lol1:

Audi-ßoy 12 July 2007 01:24 PM

There's more than adequate space in an A4 as well. :lol1:

Bubba po 12 July 2007 01:27 PM

You couldn't get a castanet in a TT, though. :)

I ought to have said "maracas".

Audi-ßoy 12 July 2007 07:34 PM

You could fit your maracas in too. Provided you didn't shake them about. :thumb:

Hi mate............ Just got rid if a 96uk wagon and a 52 jdm blobwagon.

My kit consists of:

22" kick
16" floor
18" floor
8" tom
10" tom
12" tom
13" tom
14" tom

2 x 14"x6.5" snares
cymbal case

all mounted on a gibraltar rack and hard-cased,kick-drum in protection racket case.

AND IT ALL WENT IN THE WAGON........USING THE FRONT PASSENGER FOOTWELL OF COURSE.

Loads of space........... and NO van-hire costs.

Si.

Shan't disappoint you then -

I used to fit the following in my wagon -

2 x 22 BD
1 x 16 FT
1 x 13 TT
1 x 12 TT
1 x 10 TT
1 x 14 SD

Gibraltar double bass rack, soft cases and 2 cymbal cases. All went in and I still had the use of the passenger footwell.

Slimmed the kit down to 1 BD, 1, FT 2 TT, 1 SD and smaller rack when I got the RB5 but carrying any normal drumkit will not be an issue in a Scoob.

(since got rid of the acoustic kit and got a nice Roland TD6 and that pretty much fits in the boot).
