Bonnet lifters and lightweight bonnets
I'd like some to go with my lightweight GRP bonnet but am worried they will be too stiff for it because it flexes so much...anyone running lifters on a lightweight bonnet?
TIA Ian |
Apparently not even reccomended for alloy bonnets never mind grp ones......

I have some on my carbon bonnet and they work fine.
Fitting one side was enough but i fitted 2 of them. Take some getting use to but they work great :D |

I have tein ones fitted to my alloy bonnet and its fine when you no your own car, but makes me wince a bit when some one else dose!

mmm, my bonnet weights about as much as a packet of crisps so I'll have to lock it to stop other people opening it!!
|
I fitted the ones from Scott Lowe.
They arent too bad but i have to be careful when popping the bonnet when people are around and ask them not to lift it. It does pushes the bonnet open quite quick but the stoke of the lifter does max out before the bonnet reaches the hinge limit. |
I fitted some scott lowe ones to my carbon bonnet and couldn't even close it once they were fitted, if your bonnet is very light I'd not bother with them :(

unfortunately the bonnet would either have folded in half or the hinge area would have imploded before the struts would have closed :( there just wasn't enough weight in the bonnet to overcome them
shame cos they looked proper pimp :D |
i'm gonna leave it, shame I already cut the existing prop off...oh well custom fit bonnet holder here we come :D
