Anyone up for a PGR3 race...
All this talk of PGR4 is making me want to play PGR3 for a bit and leave the serious racing of Forza 2 alone for a few days and just have some fun which I think PGR3 excels at
Anyone up for some online races? |
Christ I can't remember the last time I played PGR3, certainly not since I got my HD TV!
|
I played it when I got the wheel and the drifts you can get with the wheel are fantastic. Forza = serious races/challenges PGR3 = excellent fun
|
I had a go on the latest tournament lastnight, took a few laps to adjust from forza driving style and back to handbraking, bouncing off corners :lol1:
i managed to rank 66th, only 3 tenths of a second off qualifying, i'll never get those last 50 points  |
keep meaning to go back to it myself, might give it a go as I thought Forza 2 might grab a lot of peoples attention.

Whats the track & car?
I always used to average around the 200th position mark, best I ever got was 91st. |

hmmm - quick like the gallardo, and some of the LV tracks are to my liking - and thank god for automatic gearing!!
<just decides to go home for din dins...> :D would love to get 1000G in this one. |
how the hell do you do cones  cant do any of them. need golds for all cone & theres a cone in virtually every trophy so i cant get the trophies & progress.ggrrrrr
Also you dont get the kudos when online. At least with pgr2 i could get kudos online to be able to progress offline |
with cones its a case of picking the right car - the RUF concept car is reagrded as being quite handy but I did most of mine in the Sagaris, IMHO its easier in a tail-happy lower class car than it is in an A class motor, the sagaris grips well through corners but its easy to get the tail out for a slight drift here and there to keep the combo going.
Concentrate on getting from cone to cone before the combo drops out, if you can do the whole track you'll be unlucky not to get the platinum. |
Totally agree with both of those cars, two things to bear in mind, 1 time is not really a factor so dont try and rush, 2 you are allowed to miss cones aslong as you dont hit them so if you think you can't swing around to make a gate them simply avoid it totally and do some slides instead.
If some of the gates are to far apart (the multiplier times out if manouvers are not done within a certain time of each other) then just tap the break or handbrake and do a small slide. Its worth learning the layout of the cones, and knowing which ones are too far spaced, its quite easy to score easily over 20k once you get the hang of it. You do get online kudos, but its counted seperately to your offline kudos. The Sagaris should see you right until you get the RUF at rank 1 |
The tourney is quite tight - about half a sec off (its 37.45) and ranked at 159. My problem is/was couldnt see the damn track because of the lighting in the room, will try again tonight with the lights off!

i think i must be beyond sh1te. Bought the car, did get 2 races but none that got me a trophy. trying to do the first single cone race trophy, 7500k needed linked bonuses well & skidded round every corner....3100k :brickwall
oh also it said 73,000 to get next rank...get 2 races of about 75,000 each...72,000 to next rank...eh |
If you're talking about the London cone challenge then you can achieve approx 10-13k at the halfway stage of this track (the part with the red tarmac), i know this because i was showing a mate whos having similar problems as you.
it starts with a little straight, just take the cone gates, then sweeping right which you can slide around, you will then pass another cone gate coming out of the bend, the gate following this one which is on the right of the track is too far to reach using the Sagaris so tap the handbrake and slide the backend ever so slightly, you will be in to the longish straight then with gates to the left, right, left etc, take this at a reasonable speed (no point rushing and crashing or hitting a cone), then at the end take the sharp right being careful of the cone gate here, you may even slam the breaks on as you'll still have time to hit the next gate, then thru the little s bend and in to the red tarmac area, providing you've not missed a gate and the multiplier is still going stop the car and let the points tot up, this should give you enough for gold. Then simply carry on and finish the race. If you are gonna practice then try it on novice, that way each race you complete at least you'll be getting more kudos. |
woohoo got to rank 1 and with the Ruf it certainly helps with the cones, done them all in gold now too :thumb:

tried to get some of the online achievements but i think i may have p1ssed some of them off - doesnt it do matched games in pgr3? rather not play with arses that give me bad rep cos im cr@p :Whatever_
I need an "achievement buddy" (man how putrid...) so i can get the mouse & cone achievements... |
you can get cat & mouse + cones in a player match - online professional has to to be done in ranked - my advice would be to stick with 1 event until you win it, leave Nordschleife Drivers Club until the end though and learn it well - you can always practice it in time trial if you can go get down towards 6 mins in a b class car you should be OK.
