What is the crack with all the different firmware versions??

what FW is the best one to get? and is it free to download and upgrade your PSP if you get an early version of FW?

Sony don't like people playing homebrew and pirate games on the console, so they keep releasing new firmware revisions to stop people doing it. The funny thing is that usually the hackers manage to crack it within a couple of days, and so the battle continues.

The firmware releases are free to download and install, and some have added new features, but mostly it's a piracy thing...

...and it leads ultimately to a lighter wallet

ok thanks Iain, so basically it is a reflashable device so I can get whichever FW relese is available then flash it if and when sony release a new FW version?
