MY07 - economy?
thinking of buying a MY07 WRX seeing as motorpoint are now doing them at £13600!!
i do a 65-70 mile commute to work and back mostly motorway - waht sort of MPG will i be getting? doing "cough" 80'ish on the m'way |
The new ones quoted MPG is about the same as mine, on a trip down to Lancashire last week I achieved an unbelievable 30mpg :) That was driving at a steady 90 and occasionally hitting triple digit speeds :norty:

i have had average 27 in the 1300miles i've done so far from new, so i'd expect 30+ when the engine loosens up a bit.

£13,600 for a brand new WRX, that is ridiculous!
When I bought my MY97 in 1999 it was £14.5k, 3 years old and had 53,000 miles on the clock! Mind you, it was a Classic! :norty: |
13600 + OTR costs, mine came to 15,600 in the end :) Picked it up a couple of weeks back,
Motorway off boost so to speak you can expect about 300+ to a tank easy I reckon. Round town, about 200 to a tank. Consumption is not really changed from the 2.0 WRX's |

30 MPG is probably the max and thats if you do all your miles on the motorway alone and if you have a light right foot.
25-28 is more realistic and i would be upset if i got less than that on an average motorway run. Economical it isnt and all the figures in the world wont prepare you for what 28mpg actually means in terms of money:eek: Still, it will be great fun getting to work!!!!!!!:luxhello: |
I use mine for the daily commute and have to say..... it IS great fun :D

Possibly cheaper over a years commute of 60+ miles a day to buy a cheap TDi to run as a second car.
Or convert it to LPG if you are intending to keep it for several years. I can put you in touch with subaru specialist with LPG conversion experience. |

LPG : Not sure about warranty, its obviously a major change and also requires the ecu remapping, so it would need discussing with subaru. The fitter is National Autogas approved converter. The kit used is specifically for subaru engine and the company is a subaru speciallist and does all the mechanical work and ecu mapping to suite.

I run my MY06 STI PPP on Tesco 99 and usually get 280-300 miles on a tank. Live in middle of nowhere though so its a 60 mile round trip to get to the petrol station :eek2:

MY07STI does around 24mpg as been remapped to 360bhp so cant complain
power comes at a cost and the smile factor is priceless:lol1: :lol1: |

Look - if you have to ask about fuel consumption then you have bought the wrong car. Simple - get a life.

I am lucky I get nearly 180 mls to a tank in my 03 STi. V-power only
Do you think there is anything I can do to make this better:wonder: Perhaps if I ran it on diesel??????? If I didnt wear a shoe on my right foot do you think that would make my foot lighter on the loud pedal???? I did consider having my leg shortened maybe that would work:idea: Isnt everybody sick of fuel economy threads:sleep: Dont buy an impreza if you have to think about petrol costs:D |

I'm not sure if Doh is going a total of 70 miles there and back or 140 round trip. But at nigh on £5 a gallon, then at 25 mpg, he's burning petrol at 20 pence per mile or just over 1 p per 100 yards. 30 mpg gets it down to 17 p per mile or just under 1p per 100 yards. My advice would be to buy a diesel turbo auto, get a Van Aarken box to tweak it, save 6 to 10p per mile and leave the real car at home!
P.S. I tried to buy a Scooby at Motorpoint this weekend - none left at the £13,600 price. |

actualy i haven't bought one and was just asking what kind of MPG i would get on my work commute, thats not a crime is it? i have a TVR Chimaera 4.6 that does 20mpg & 5.0 V8 Sierra that does 14mpg i think i know about how much fuel costs |

As always if you are worried about MPG you really shouldnt be buying an Impreza as the cost of the fuel is the least of your worries lol!
As for your Sierra, its not a white 3 door is it? |
stara -I have an excel sheet and I enter all the fuel I put in the car.
Trust me its best not to do this as it makes for very depressing reading.... T. PS. my 996 I had before the STI was MORE economical and a shed load better to drive. |
