Just stay away from cheap sh!te. Turbosmart valves work well on the Prez.

I guess the important question is WHY, do you want the noise (from a VTA), is yours leaking or do you want a 'better' one.

Also depends which model you have and whether its flange mounted or not.

The only cheap ones worth bothering with are cast off Subaru OE ones - personally I prefer the stock Impreza one I have now to the (badly calibrated from them, then charge you another £15 to give you the bits to correct the mistake) Forge one I had.

Just for research purposes, why did you want a new DV and have you gone VTA or recirc?

would either of the ones for sale fit my 2000 Forester by any chance?

The rookie 24 June 2007 01:51 PM

2000 Foz needs the flange mount similar to he baileys one in the pic, but with the 3 holes (2 bolt and the vent) in a line unlike this one where the bolt holes are offset.

Be cautious changing DV's on a foz the EU (not JDM) ones with the smaller turbo are boosting much more often so the on off characteristics as the valve opens and shuts can be quite unpleasent. I had a Forge on mine and couldn't do an 80mph cruise as whenever the valve opened or shut it gave a 12% change in manifold pressure (and hence torque), I could have got a Forge 'tuning' kit (different springs etc) but was loath to pay yet more money, so went back to a cast off Impreza one.

The stock Foz DV is very prone to leaking, you need to remove the vac line that goes to it thats nearest the intercooler (and plug it!) so it shuts and holds boost properly, especially if your increasing the boost level. If you pm me an email addy I can send you a very useful document written by an Austarlian on tuning the Forester engine (and car!) with the TF035 blower.
