How much does £45,000 a year get you a month?

Just been offered a new job with quite a few perks. I've been offered £45,000 a year. I understand this is now into the higher tax bracket. What would I expect to take home each month?

Approx £2500.

Blood hell thats even better! Yes they do sting you for the tax thats why I have been self employed for the last 2 years but this still make me better off

I hope your prospective employer doesnt read this as if you cant divide £45,000 by 12 then you shouldnt really be earning that..:lol:

It isn'y in my job either, neither did I have to do any maths exams to get the job :D

The original question was asking about after tax figures, which is a little more than dividing 45,000 by 12 :)

Its funny, I was on about 37k last year but am now contracting and clearing about a grand a week on average, perhaps a bit more but trying to over save for my tax bill, I used to clear about 2 grand to 2.5 grand a month dependant on call out but I dont know how I managed and I have not bought a new car or any other big purchases ?

as others have said its around 2500 - 2600, obviously the degree of other perks will make the difference as if you have health car {bupa or similar} you will be taxed on that, same as any other things although they are not major tax costs they will ake the take home different.

Well done on getting a job in that region although when you get our first pay packet you will be depressed :( it is very hard to land a decent paying job.

This thread only reaffirms why I want to play poker for a living. Earning £50,000 a year at that is the equivellent of Joe Employee on a pre-tax wage of £75,500.

I'd also love knowing that £25,500 of my money isn't going on funding the lifestyle of scum that can't be bothered to work, etc.

Its frightening what some of us have to pay to the goverment due to us having a decent job :mad:

No tax on gambling in the UK :) They still get your savings when you put your winnings in your bank account! And, they'll get you for VAT when you spend your money, duty when you buy fuel, fags, booze and finally take another chunk when you die!!!

Well I was a Self employed abseiler in London. Basically high access maintenance work. Window cleaning, fitting eyebolts, etc... but got offered a job as a operations manager for a pretty big company so i'm hoping it will work out ok. Good thing is I get a pension scheme and am i'm only 27 so thats a bonus.

Just seen a STi Hawk Eye on autotrader for £17500 and very tempted but will need to get a loan for £300 a month for 60 months. Am I mad? Does anyone else pay this much a month for a car?

But next year the higher tax bracket is going up from £33,300 to £45k as far as I can remember!! (might be £40k but its still better)
