Any area for people that actually DO sport?!

Much talk about cricket, football, etc and "death by analysis" but what about people that go completely crazy and actually do sport themselves, like surf, run, mountain bike race, etc, etc?!!

I'm far more interested in sport that people do themselves (apart from now being riveted to F1!) so good to hear what people get up to.

Now into running (did first ever race, a 10k trail race last Friday), MTBing, weights stuff (at home) but mostly surfing, boating (sailing, waterskiing, etc) and similar.

How do you footie players find the fitness element of playing? Must be quite tough.

I had been following your thread in NSR about your race, congrats, you got a decent time for a first run :thumb: Not competed in any races myself, I just run to keep fit for my football season. especially at the moment whilst the season has finished.

Keeping fit has to be the hardest part of football, just turning up once a week and doing nothing else is not a clever move. I play in the South Lincolnshire League (even though we have a Leicestershire team in the league too) and its actually quite a high standard. Our captain has just moved to America to teach kids for a season. due back in September. Would love to go do that. Looking forward to next month, I have a game against a bunch of ex pro's that include ex world cup players like John Sheridan. Should be really interesting to see how we get on. even though the players are old I dont expect them to be too shabby lol

:D :D :D

In my pulling days (a while back!), I used to competitively surf, have sponsorship and did a lot of lifeguarding.
Add that to the poshboy accent I could switch on (having moved from Surrey aged 14) and it was a case of almost no effort needed to pull post GCSE posh girls down for a bit of fun. :norty:

Proper "open season" and I've always thought posh girls are "safer" too :D

Flaps 19 June 2007 12:12 PM

I play Golf and Badminton (not at the same time) at least once a week.

rob878 19 June 2007 03:30 PM

I play saturday rugby union and league (union winter, league in summer in scotland) as well as Midweek rugby league for the RAF development team. 3 times a week in the gym lifting weights, 2 training sessions with my club plus a sunday swimming to try and help get rid of the knocks (this never works but the yummy mummies make up for it :D )

I look at pics of when i was 20 and weighed 11 stone and wonder how i missed the extra 5 stone being added to my frame over the 11 years since then.:cuckoo:
