REAR STRUT BRACE-WHERE'S IT MOUNT?

Hey up lads (and lasses)
Bought a whiteline rear strut brace for a classic but can't find where
to mount it.I know its secured via the nuts off the top mount of rear
shocker but can't locate it in boot?
Can anyone tell me where/how to mount it?

Not sure about the classic but in my newage you remove the rear seat and then take the strut to pieces to feed it through the holes and then rebuild it and hey presto. not too difficult really, shouildn't take you long.

Classics the same. Easy job but fiddley doing the strut nuts back up.

Cheers guy's.
Just been out.....sorry to be a pain but how do you get to the struts...
i know you said take the rear seats out....i've folded em down and can't
find any bolts securing rest of backrest to rear bulkhead?
ps its a 1998 uk classic saloon.

Cheers mate for going to trouble of getting pic.It does seem to look like you need the rear seat back out but how's it come off?

doug2507 16 June 2007 03:39 PM

No trouble. It's the only one i had on comp. All you need is access to the top of the struts. When i fitted mine iirc, i unclipped the q/panel trim and took the seatbelt off to make a little more room for myself. Can you see the top of your struts?

Rear seat back is held on by 3 12mm bolts. Read the scoobymods thread and you should be sorted mate!

I couldn't see owt when outside doin it.....but i never had all of the rear seat out (only folded down split seat bit) because didn't/don't know how its held in place?
I reckon by the sounds of it,as soon as ALL the rear seats are out the strut
top will be staring me in the face.......hopefully?

Im having the same problem at the mo, I can see the rear strut top but am unsure how the hell the seats come apart without damaging/breaking them ? Anyone know ?
Do they just pull of and pop back on ?

D1CCY 20 June 2007 01:16 PM

Newage : Two bolts at the bottom front of the seat base - remove these and base will pull out. This exposes 4 bolts at the bottom of the back rest. remove these and pull seat back vertically to get off hooks at top. Then you will be able to see tops of struts. When refitting make sure you locate all (4?) the hooks on the seat back or it will rattle and wobble. Presume classic must be similar.
