2 month old WRX wagon, 3000 miles. When I do a hill start in reverse, the interior is filled with a HORRIBLE smell of burning rubber / fishy-type burning electrical smell. Lasts about 30 seconds. Never happens doing forward hill starts. I have to do a reverse hill start somewhere I visit once a week (quite steep, probably about 1:5 or maybe even 1:4). And before anyone has a laugh, I do know how to drive, honest!! I'm not frying my clutch any more than is essential.... :D:D Anybody noticed this, or have any ideas?? |
They don't like a bit of hill work ;) it always seems to make the clutch smell
Don't worry though your in the same boat as the rest of us, i don't think its doing any damage Scott |
Thanks for the reply Scott.
I've also just talked to a mate who has a Forester S Turbo and has noticed the same thing. Bit strange.... but as long as it doesn't mean there's anything wrong. |
Just a thot, perhaps the clutch-flywheel relationship has some directional properties?? After all, most manufacturers would not expect the vast majority of driving situations to be forward moving. Hence they may bias wear-tear to be more resistant in the forward take-up.
