Audi A5 3.0TDI / STI (MY06 PPP)

Yo all.

Don't shoot me down here - this is not a spam post for audi !!

I have a MY06 STI PPP in black - love it to bits - but its expensive and has been relegated to the wife and kids (for running around in, I take it for a blast every weekend to burn off the carbon!).

Have just ordered an Audi A5 3.0 TDI for my everyday car (I run my own company so this is for commuting and client visits etc). Apart from liking the look of the car and needing a change, on paper the performace stats of the car look impressive. 40MPG (reasonable driving), 0-62 in 5.9 seconds, 240 PS, 380 lbft pulling etc.

I hope it is a risk worth taking - call it a reasonable compromise - arrives September so will let you know how it goes.

Anyone else run a scoob and an oil burner in the same family?!

LOVE the A5 that will be a sweet car!!!

Both my parents run diesel cars and moan about how much diesel costs over petrol.. what they dont see is that every 200 miles i run out and they have 400 miles left!!!

Evo mag reckon the 3.0TDI is currently the pick of the range (over the S5 and all the rest).

I take it they are quattro?

I think the mags have said that the pull of the 3.0TDI / MPG price etc, set against the S5 (with its 4.2 petrol) and tax issues etc, makes the 3.0TDI a good compromise. As I understand it the 3.0 TDI in the A5 is an uprated version of what is available in the other Audi cars.

Quattro is standard on the A5 3.0 TDI. I have also ordered the Sports Pack and upgraded wheel (19inch running 255, 35 rubber). I know its going to make the ride harder but could not resist.

What did shock me (as a first time buyer of German cars) was the final price of the car - it was several 1000's more than the list after all the bits and pieces..

Good choice, as stated, probably the best one to go for:thumb: Nice looking motor.

Don't forget, that engine will already be available for a re-map to about 280ps, then I would imagine it will go like S**t. Not that it will be slow standard.
