Will PCI-express backward compatible with PCI 2.0?!

As per title. I have a modern pc with core 2 duo and it uses pci-express card slots. i am about to buy a tv-card which is a PCI-2.0 card. will it work on my pc with being a pci-express slots?
Are pci-express backward compatible with pci 2.0?
cheer in advance.

As far as I know they are backward compatible, although voltages may make a difference

I have a couple of digital multitrack soundcards 16in/out on each and they are PCI 2.0 spec, and I believe they don't work in PCI Express boards as the clock timings are different due to the difference in voltages

Your mileage may vary, but may be worth doing some searches on some of the video/tv capture forums

Guys, they're completely different - connector type, voltages, signalling mechanism... the whole hardware interface has been changed. They're no more compatible than, say, IDE vs SATA.

Its true, ive just googled my motherboard and found that i have 1 pci express slot and 2 pci slots. The pci-E is indeed totally different. I've also opened up the case and had a look and can confirm on that.
I see i have 1 more free normal pci, I think that will do it for the pci 2.1 tv-card!!! correct me if i'm wrong tho!!!

cheers for your info.:luxhello:
