Oh dear I bought another one!! But is it too good to be true?

Hi guys, even though at the moment I'm trying to reduce my cars, and the fact that I still have another 4 weeks left on my suspention, I couldn't help myself when I saw this Scooby on Ebay the other day, and I ended up buying the thing.
Sure enough it looks sweet, but I just want to know if the power figures quoted are reasonable. The guy I've bought it off said it'll be making around 400-450 Bhp, and with the spec it seems reasonable, but thought I'd check with you guys, as you are all in the know more than me when it comes to Scooby's

Here's the spec

2.5 engine with full forged pistons and crank
550cc HKS injectors
K&N air filter
Apexi ECU
Apexi FC Commander
Apexi AVC-R boost controller
Lamder sensor/Knockllink
short shift STi gearbox with AP Racing clutch
full turbo back
3" HKS exhaust system
Massive fuel pressure regulator
Massive HKS front mount intercooler
bigger and better relocated oil cooler
up rated fuel pump
100% CARBON bonnet/scoop and side mirrors
6pot Callipers and massive 330m DISK by AP Racing
blitz turbo timer

Here's the other stuff

Paint - pearlescent white with tiny gold flakes - Paint was supplied by House of colour
4 point racing harness
flamer kit
heavy duty Optima battery
18" B.K racing alloys with YOKOHAMA PRADA Spec2 tyres (new)
Sparco pro 2000 bucket racing seats
momo steering wheel
ALPINE touch screen DVD player
playstation 2
5" Alpine type r door speakers with 1"tweeters in doors
Two 12" Alpine type r subs in a custom build boot
two huge Alpine v12 amps… etc.. much more i.c.e.
Road Angel
Lightly Tinted windows
Sigma alarm
Tracker
Morrette Head lamps and facelift front

Probably some other stuff too....

What you guys think - Both in general of the car and it's claimed figures

All Comments welcome

Impossible to know the power figs unless you get the car tested. A margin of 50 bhp seems a bit weird though.

Agree with getting rid of the rear lights, what about the rest of the horrible cosmetic mods?
;)

DannyBoy007 30 May 2007 10:25 AM

It doesn't say what turbo it's running, I'm sure if it had been upgraded which would of cost a fair bit it would of been at the top of the list of mods!! The standard TD05 is not going to be anywhere near those figures.

And what gear box it is, 6 speed or 5 speed? I doubt a standard 5 speed would last that long with those power claims!!

There was a discussion on this board about that car after it was spotted on the bay. I'll try and find it.

IIRC it is the standard turbo

That was my feelings too - I spoke to him and he didn't really know what he was talking about, although when I asked him how much boost he was running he said 1.9 Bar :eek2: I asked him if he was sure, and he then said it was actually 1.2Bar - Hmm.... Don't think he knows what he's talking about to be fair! Certainly didn't think the TD05 would be able to get that - not without burning the thing out!! But I'm gonna get it all mapped and dyno'd first then see what it is actually pushing - I think I'm gonna have to carefully inspect the receipts as quite clearly he doesn't know what has been done to it!

What turbo is it running?

Those seats lOOk lush, but can't really see anything, as unlike all the "massive" components in the list, the pictures are tiny. :D

jr758774c: IIRC it said in the ebay description what turbo it was running, could be wrong though

jr758774c 30 May 2007 03:37 PM

just had another look - it doesn't specify what turbo. Oh well, I've got him dropping the car off to me so if it turns out to be a bag of cr@p then I'll smile sweetly and send him on his way!

I think the first job is.......get a recommended "mapper" to sit in with his det cans on and have a drive about. ;)
