WARNING! mad man ranting
 

Trying to get my old Rover up and running but fallen at the first hurdle.:(

The bl**dy c***ing battery bracket! cant get the battery out to put on charge as the bolt holding the bracket, holding the bloomin battery has rusted up!:mad: spanner has chewed the sides and its too tight to us pliers.....any ideas?:)

I was thinking of taking a crowbar to the 'F'in car but then realised a. I didn't have a crowbar:wonder: , and b it would mean the little git would be even harder to sell with a load of dents and a smashed windscreen than she is already:brickwall ....that and I'll probably end up knocking myself out:rolleyes: ....but then going back to a I don't need to worry about all that as..I DONT HAVE A 'F'IN CROWBAR ...that's it I've gone mad now:freak3: , oh cars are so much fun!,

dont suppose you have a mig welder?? weld a nut on it then trie again..


but you probably havnt so just call the AA they will do it for you!!

I think a socket would have been a better proposition?

This is why when I found a good mechanic he gets all my work :D Last thing I want to do (or my car wants me to do to it) is to try and fix it :lol1:

WD40? Mole grips (not pliars!)? Blow torch (to make it expand and then contract, and maybe loosen its grip?

:lol1: I'm not the only one then Luminous:thumb: no I don't have a welder, if I did I dread to think of the damage I could do:eek: .
I would have tried a socket on it but there isn't enough room to get in with one.

I'm tempted to just ring a garage and say take it away and sort it for me, but I just know it'll cost me a fortune in labour, unfortunately I haven't got any where to work on a car properly which doesn't help when it comes to the sort of things I'd love to tinker otherwise.

Don't suppose there's any mechanics on hear that live in the Cambridge area willing to help me out?:D

how about disconnecting the battery leads and charging it in the car ?? just an idea.

how about a dremmel with cutting disc to cut through the nut?

Some good ideas, not shore about the nut splitters, oooh that just sounds so wrong!:)
Idealy I'd setup the charger in the car unfortunately the cars too far from the house :( a guy on Rovertech suggested soaking the bolt in wd40?
its times like this I wish I had a garage or at least a drive :(

You could always try hammering a smaller socket on the nut!

cut a slot in it with a hacksaw and then use a big screwdriver. Prefrebly use a screwy with a square shaft, then if its tight you can put a spanner on the shaft of the screwy.

Just get a mechanic it will save your hair (pulling it out), your knuckles and your car! I hope you get it sorted that kind of thing just ruins my day.
