Fitting APS CAK to Classic

What do i need to fit this kit to my 99 Uk turbo and what do i need to remove. (bottom half of airbox already removed)

I obviously have the Aps pipe and K&N filter but how do i connect it to where it needs to go ? Have seen a couple of pics of this fitted but I'm not sure what other parts i need, some have a large Samco hose and some sort of connecting sleeve between the two. Is there only one way to fit this or even better... what's the Proper way..

Thanks in advance for any help with this guys, it's something i need to get sorted soon before it gets mapped

regards..

just get a samco hose to match it to the maf housing

Dan 2 23 May 2007 11:05 PM

That's what i thought but when i looked at it today it has 3 or 4 holes at one end of the cak pipe as if it needs to be bolted on to something ...then attached to a Samco. ?

Any ideas folks ?

The MAF bolts directly to the end of the APS cold air kit, hence the four holes. Unbolt the maf from the OE air box and it should be clear from there.

Most people use a samco hose from the MAF to the turbo inlet pipe. I dont think you HAVE to though.

Also, dont run it on boost at all until it is mapped.

Firstly, it WILL run like a dog and cough and splutter so drivingisn't nice.

Second, the path that the air takes past the MAF is totally different to how it does as standard. The MAF needs rescalling at the time of mapping to suit.

Be warned as it could result in engine damage.

I have one fitted and mapped by AndyF on my car. It now runs fine.

You can see it fitted here.

Cheers Bob... Just what i was looking for :) Pics are spot on .

thanks.

ps; didn't you use the bracket for the APS to attach it on the wing ?

Welloilbeefhooked 26 May 2007 12:28 PM

I used the barcket on mine. When Andy mapped it he could hear noise through the det system he uses. It was the APS moving in the wing that was causing it. After it was bolted up properly it was fine.

The problem is that they are a very tight fit in the wing, so not using it makes it easier to fit. If you can get something around the opening in the inner wing (Plastic or rubber), before you fit the APS, then I would imagine the bracket isn't needed as it wont be going anywhere. The MAF shouldn't move at all, so no worries!

I didn't feel the need for one as its so tight. If you can fit one its probably best.

I'm a little lazy though and even my tmic is still a floating arrangement with no brackets and has been for a couple of years.

Bob, have you removed the undertray ? I'll be fitting a Hyperflow TMIC this week and was wondering what to do with mine.
