Ahem, I know it might seem a stupid question (especially bearing in mind the fact that I have very successfully built my own kit car) but is it obvious where the sump plug on my Impreza MY98 STi Wagon is?

A description (or better, a picture) of the location of the plug would be appreciated as I want to drain off half a litre of engine oil this weekend. My manuals are in Japanese which does not help much and I certainly do not want to drain off the wrong fluid!

Thanks,

Steve

Hi M8

On My UK MY98 4dr :-

Slide under the front of the car and you will see the plastic engine tray that covers the underside of the engine bay. There are two main holes located in the tray. One is for the Oil filter and the other, located closer to the centre of the engine, the said sump plug. You will be able to remove the plug without removing the undertray.

Cheers

Neal

Neal,

Thanks very much, exactly what I needed to know!

Mebbe draining out 1/2 litre of oil and blasting the wastegate solenoid and piping with brake cleaner will assist with the 'hesitation' problem!!

Compliments of the season,

Steve
