New Skoda advert.
Putting aside the odious Julie Andrews singing that AWFUL song, does anyone else find the new Skoda advert, the one where they make a car from cake, annoying, if not downright obscene?
What a pathetic waste of food. Alcazar |
No.
It obvioulsy worked from the point of view of people talking about Skoda's. The ad even got a half page spread in one of the tabloids today. Nik. |
And I thought Subaru's were supposed to have chocolate engines;)
YouTube - New Skoda Fabia Advert - Full of lovely stuff |
In the pursuit of originality ideas are going from the sublime to the ridiculous. I doubt if watching that advert would compel anyone to buy a Skoda.

i personally think thats a fantastic advert. very innovative, imaginative, and rather clever. ok its made from cake and a waste, but whats to say after wards it wasnt cut to pieces and fed to all the orphan children in africa.
seriously it could have been given to the less needy, although im still not gonna buy a skoda andy |

People will buy on the strength of value for money, reliability and build quality. Not watching a car being made from food if it was really made that way at all. It's all about trying to catch the limelight and be the talk of the town on which point they have succeeded. As for wooing punters, well you liked the advert but wont buy the car so failure on that front. Surely your comment about the food being given to the needy was made with tongue firmly in cheek.
im off to work:D |

I think its a great ad! :)
As for "needy" - prehaps if they spent more time working, studying, not killing their neighbours because of their stolen goat/differing tribe then maybe they could shove their faces full of high sugar, high fat bakery produce just like us. :p |

I think it is brilliant. Makes me stop what I'm doing to watch it. Skodas aren't that bad anyway. At least they do a sporty version!
|
I think it's terrific and very innovative, better than the poncey Honda nonsense.
What was the environmental impact of filming all those boats, cars and bikes for the sake of "brand awareness"...? Probably worse for the planet than some starving people missing out on some cake and jelly. |

Its damn annoying.
We have a Fabia as a company car, along with a Focus and 2 Toyota Avensis's. Everyone goes for the Toya's or the Ford. The Skoda redlines at 4k5 rpm!!! |

Hmm maybe the parallel would be the large confectionery item being shaped closely to a current model in their range???? maybe

But what a lot of work just to end up with a Skoda.
|
i loved the syrup being poured in like oil :D
Top ad, better than most of the crap in between programmes :p |
Hmmm......food for thought! ;)
|
I drove the car after filming the ad....quite good but the brakes felt a bit too SPONGY...

People buy things, in no particular order, for because: - It made them feel good They were impulsive It fulfilled a need in their lives It looked good in front of the neighbours It was a present They needed one They wanted to 'belong' to the brand It endowed them with the virtues of leading role models If people only bought because of the reasons cited above they would never buy: - TVRs Any luxury car valued over £20k never mind £30k Cigarettes Victoria Beckham jeans at £345 a pair Gordon's Gin (as opposed to Aldi own brand which you drink ;)) |
