i have just fitted a cd changer in my RB5 - however what is the best route to run the cable from boot to head unit? And do i need any shock absorbing material under the mounts for the changer?
please help? Sam |
Routing is largely down to personal preference, but the most direct is up the side of the transmission tunnel. The easiest is down the passenger side "running board" trim, or drivers side...
Don't put any shock absorbing in the mounting. It needs to be mounted as firmly as possible to the car - the one thing that causes skipping is a loose mount. |
and, make sure you've set it for horizontal/vertical mounting.
Most changers these days can be mounted either way and setting it to the incorrect position is the other major way to cause skipping. Of course, stiffened and lowered suspension doesn't help, but changers these days are mostly good enough to cope.... |
Thanks guys, all fitted now using centre transmission tunnel. works and sounds great! :)
