R32 ... finally!!!

3.5 months never felt so long ... but it's finally here!

Hastily taken pics but you understand ... too busy driving it ... :D

Perfect machine for my current tastes and needs: I'm superhappy and can't see myself changing this one for a few years.

Now just have to hold those high-revving urges until 1000 miles ...

PS. The specs:

New Golf R32 5 doors
black pearl
DSG paddle-activated gearbox
sunroof
DVD satnav
recaro seats
usual R32 stuff (dual zone climate, xenons, rear park sensors, flat bottomed steering wheel, 18" wheels, ...)

Very nice indeed matey.

I like the R32, although lots of reviews say that the Gti is a better buy. Ya pays ya money, ya makes ya choice.

I like high capacity motors..........easy driving and you don't have to thrash the arse off them everywhere to make rapid progress. Of course..........turbos are almost as effective as CC's. :norty:

Enjoy the new motor!

wrx-kris 15 May 2007 04:11 PM

left hooker too!? (not uk then :))

nice car!!!!

monkeysan 15 May 2007 04:44 PM

left hooker means less chance of being done over for interior!

loads been stripped oop north for that sole reason

wall 15 May 2007 05:10 PM

Resident in Italy for a while ... traffic cops actually like fast cars here ;)

Andy M3 15 May 2007 05:22 PM

Looks nice - very understated.

Nice one!
Makes we want one again!

Not seen one in black (my mk4 R32 was black) - Best colour by miles.

monkeysan 16 May 2007 04:06 PM

i actually like it - always swore that mk2 was last good golf but they look pretty damn evil!

T4molie 16 May 2007 05:17 PM

Nice motor fella :thumb:

Like that a lot

wall 17 May 2007 09:05 AM

Thanks for the comments.

I've done the first 300 miles or so and it's really great. Loads of grip, very taut and responsive handling, plenty of grunt even keeping the revs low, comfy and quiet when cruising but fantastic noise when accellerating.

Should be past the 1000 miles by mid next week ... can't wait :)

Wall - You're taking me back three years to when I got mine!

Like yours a LOT Wall!!

stilover 17 May 2007 10:04 AM

Very nice car.

Andygreer 17 May 2007 10:12 AM

I must say i am a massive fan of VW and have had a few mk4s and threes. I just do not like the way the R32 just looks like the GTI but with a Chrome Grill and two Pipes at the back, The older R32 was much nicer IMO for aggresion and looks.

Im sure this car is much better and cant comment but the old R32 was great fun, i hope this is too

Hope you enjoy the car Interier is a lot more updated too :)

chrisgreenall 17 May 2007 10:29 AM

I nearly bought one of these just for the engine noise!! Nice car!!

Matteeboy 17 May 2007 10:34 AM

I wasn't sure about the style of the new R32 (having had a black mk4 R32 for a year) but I've really warmed to it.

I'd consider getting the grille sprayed body colour but other than that, it looks the part and those seats look a lot better than the overstyled Konigs I had in mine!

Also seems usefully quicker.

wall 17 May 2007 04:01 PM

The noise is absolutely amazing for anything bog-showroom-standard this side of a Lambo (slight exageration but you get the point ;) ...). Today had a few brief 5000+ rev moments and just cannot believe it with the windows up, just perfectly meaty and angry but not boomy or excessive ... then tried windows down, sunroof open, in a tunnel ... wow!!! Agree with Chris it's worth it for the noise alone!

just come back from italy and we had a hire car it's like a freaking free for all everywhere you go

wall 18 May 2007 05:52 PM

South of Florence is a complete free for all, north they are a bit stricter but they still appreciate fast cars and they will usually not fine you unless you are doing at least 20-30 miles over the limit. To lose your license you really have to be going way too fast, as in double the limit or so.
Also fixed cameras are only installed in big cities or in major freeways; most A roads, and all B roads, don't have any cameras or police for that matter.
So drives in the pictoresque mountains or hills are always an absolute worry-free pleasure :)

I might consider buying one. They say the R32's worth all the money!

pitcha44 01 June 2007 10:21 PM

sorry but i dont like it just looks like a golf to me the mk 1 r32 looks good tho

ImNotAudiLover 02 June 2007 12:23 AM

You dont need to run in VAG engines. They are benchmarked before they get fitted!

wall 02 June 2007 08:05 AM

Yes I know but I still prefer to go soft on all my cars for the first 1000 miles or so ... everything is bedding in, and IMO it's always better to do it nice and smoothly not abruptly.

Anyhow I got to 1000 a few days ago :)

Really happy with the purchase, fantastic bit of kit, great grip and handling, plenty of power, love the DSG, fantastic noise, and the looks to me are understated yet "muscular", which is what I like.

Interior is great too, seats are perfect and everything looks great and more importantly works/feels great.

Cannot recommend it enough, great car IMO and even good value for money!

Be kind now then and give her an oil change.;)

Nice mate, my boss used to have an 06 one that I was lucky enough to drive on several occasions. By no means the quickest thing I have ever driven, but certainly had a quality feel about it. :thumb:
