HELP!! ENGINE NEEDED

Does any one know where the best place in england is to get an engine for my 2.0l sport subaru impreza? I was sold a scoobey with a dud engine, after driving it home which was about 4 miles, not even that, the head gasket blew on the drivers side, so its either get the head skimmed for £1700!!!! or get a new engine, i choose the latter.

So does anyone know any good websites, etc that will also offer warranty or guarentee on the engine?

Thanks

Gemma!

they are cheap and have a good reputation.

also as you have just recently bought the car, there is no such thing as sold as seen any longer on a car, as obviously you cannot see inside the engine.

contact your local trading standards agency for more information, but it is the sellers responsibility.

As he ^^^^ suggested.

I got my "Low Mileage 97-98 Impreza Sport" (plus wiring loom, ECU etc) from Grade A Subaru.
Pleased as punch with them.

Your head may not need skimming. My HG went (not terminal) and I checked, luckily no distortion. Bores still had plenty of honing marks in them (yup, low mileage)

heads skimmed cost about 100 pair at most gaskets 100 at most labour 400. thats 600 . where did you get quote for 1700 .. that is a joke . where you from abouts might be able to give you some pointers

Pattern gaskets are IRO £35, Subaru are approx £100. Well they were 2wks ago.

Agreed the quote is bad, although my local Scooby dealer quoted me IRO £800 to do it

I changed my gaskets in situ (in the back of a VW Camper) and the labour was around 6-7 hrs, but it was the first time I have ever done it.
